As many as a dozen players could miss the FA Cup quarter-final between Chelsea and Port Vale at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues still have several injury issues despite Estevao and Jamie Gittens being available again. Levi Colwill is also in full training for the first time since pre-season but remains weeks away from returning.

Rosenior also ruled out Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah, despite acknowledging that both are progressing well. Benoit Badiashile did not receive a mention but was in training this week after recovering from an illness that kept him out of the matches against Everton and Paris Saint-Germain.

Filip Jorgensen injured himself against the latter and had a minor groin operation before the international break. Rosenior said at the time it was nothing too serious, but after not being mentioned, the goalkeeper may still be another week away from returning.

Enzo Fernandez is definitely out, though, after being sanctioned by the club for comments made about his future. The midfielder is missing this match and the one against Manchester City.

Mykhailo Mudryk also remains out after being charged and suspended by the Football Association over his anti-doping case. He is currently away from the club for the foreseeable.

As for Port Vale, their manager, Jon Brady, has ruled out Jaheim Headley after the left wing-back sustained a muscle strain during their last match. The Australian said: "He has taken a muscle strain.

"It is nowhere near as bad as it probably looked when he came off, so if we can have him back in a couple of weeks, it would be really good for us."

Brady also conceded that Ben Waine is a doubt to start after only recently returning from representing New Zealand last month. He said on Friday: "Ben came back yesterday after a 27-hour flight."

"I have done that many times myself from Australia, and it usually takes a week to get over it. We have to consider whether we start him; we don’t want to break him."

Waine has scored three of their four FA Cup goals since the second round. That tally includes the one to knock Sunderland out in the last round.

Liam Gordon has missed their last two matches after joining up with Guyana but could come straight in to replace Headley. Ben Heneghan, George Byers, Ryan Croasdale and Jayden Stockley have not played in their recent League One matches due to injury.
