11 players could miss Man City's crucial clash with Arsenal as latest updates revealed

Arsenal and Manchester City are both in Premier League action on Sunday afternoon, with the Gunners hosting the Citizens at the Emirates Stadium and plenty on the line

Manchester City have a few injury doubts ahead of the weekend's Premier League clash against Arsenal this weekend.

City find themselves in eighth position in the Premier League table after two wins and two losses in the first four games of the season. They did, though, pick up a morale-boosting 3-0 victory over rivals Manchester United in their last outing.

Opponents Arsenal have secured three victories and suffered just one defeat from their opening four matches of the season. They currently occupy second spot in the Premier League standings, trailing top-of-the-table Liverpool by three points.

Looking ahead to the clash, both sides are grappling with fitness concerns, creating several question marks for the encounter.

City have received welcome news with defender John Stones anticipated to be available for selection. The defender has been participating in training this week, though he was omitted from Thursday evening's squad against Napoli.

Several players remain questionable for selection. Winger Rayan Cherki will be on the treatment table a bit longer with a thigh problem, whilst Omar Marmoush is expected to return ahead of the international window, though the Arsenal clash may arrive prematurely.

Midfielder Mateo Kovacic finds himself in a similar position as he continues his recovery from an Achilles complaint. Kalvin Phillips has yet to feature this campaign due to an identical issue.

Rayan Ait-Nouri represents one potential returnee. The player sustained an ankle knock during the Tottenham fixture, though the setback isn't anticipated to sideline him for too much longer.

Arsenal will certainly be missing long-term casualties Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, who continue their rehabilitation from their respective injury problems. There is also serious doubts surrounding the trio of Ben White, Bukayo Saka, and Martin Ødegaard,

During his pre-match media briefing, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta revealed: "If there is a chance, it will be after tomorrow's session because they haven't done anything yet, so we'll have more information tomorrow."

He continued: "Everything has been modified so far for them, and there are still a few things to clear, and tomorrow we'll have more information whether they are part of the squad, they have a chance to be part of the squad or not."

Uncertainty surrounds defender William Saliba's availability to start the game, despite being named among the substitutes for Tuesday evening's Champions League encounter with Athletic Club.

"Let's see. Obviously, he's been carrying an injury," Arteta said. "He's done really well to be available for the last match. He's really pushing it, so we'll decide tomorrow what's the best start."

However, positive news emerged as the Arsenal manager confirmed that striker Viktor Gyokeres and midfielder Mikel Merino would both be fit following head knocks sustained during the midweek fixture.
