With just two weeks left before the transfer window closes, numerous Premier League clubs may feel there's still business to be done in the transfer market.
Among them is Liverpool, despite the Reds kicking off the season with a victory on Friday. Arne Slot's team has already splashed out this summer, bringing in the likes of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.
However, the team's defensive frailties were highlighted during the triumph over Bournemouth, and Slot might be enticed to bolster his backline further. Last season's runner-up, Arsenal, appeared more robust at the back on Sunday as it edged past Manchester United.
It was a challenging game for new striker Viktor Gyokeres, though, and the Gunners might feel the need to provide the Swede with additional support. United, on the other hand, could draw some positives from its performance, if not the result. Questions linger for the Red Devils, particularly in goal following Altay Bayindir's struggles for Arsenal's winning goal.
Two weeks is ample time for any of these three teams to wrap up more deals. Here, Mirror Football takes a look at some of the transfers that could still materialize.
Manchester United
United's requirement for a new goalkeeper became more pressing when Bayindir fumbled at a corner, allowing Riccardo Calafiori to net Arsenal's winner at Old Trafford. Fellow senior keeper Andre Onana didn't even make the bench, despite head coach Ruben Amorim suggesting the Cameroon international wasn't injured, and a new first-choice keeper could well be on the cards this month.
Emi Martinez is one possibility, with the Aston Villa keeper currently serving a suspension, while Gianluigi Donnarumma's future could depend on Manchester City's interest in striking a deal. Inter Milan might outbid United for the more affordable target, Senne Lammens.
Further up the pitch, Amorim is an admirer of Carlos Baleba as United look to bolster the defensive midfield. Brighton won't let the Cameroonian go without a fight, so United may need to offload some players before it can make a purchase.
Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia could command a decent price, with Roma showing interest in both, but it's possible that they follow Toby Collyer's lead and leave on loan rather than permanently. Harry Amass is also rumored to be heading out on loan, with Diego Leon's arrival strengthening United's left side.
There are three more fringe players who could be sold to potentially fund a move for Baleba. Alejandro Garnacho is on Chelsea's radar, Real Betis continue to show interest in Antony, and AC Milan target Rasmus Hojlund seems closer to leaving after being omitted from the squad for Sunday's match against Arsenal.
Arsenal
Arsenal has been active this summer, adopting a targeted strategy under new sporting director Andrea Berta. The Gunners are likely to add just one more senior player, if any, with a creative midfielder appearing to be the priority.
The progression of Ethan Nwaneri has led Arsenal to lessen their interest in Eberechi Eze, with Tottenham now appearing as the front-runners to sign the Crystal Palace star. While a last-minute move for the England international by Arsenal isn't off the table, the current focus seems to be on selling peripheral players to generate funds, even if the team doesn't plan to spend it all immediately.
With Gabriel Martinelli starting at Old Trafford and Noni Madueke coming off the bench, Leandro Trossard appears to be the one left out. There's been notable Saudi interest in the Belgian, but he might hold out for an offer from Europe.
Fabio Vieira, Albert Sambi Lokonga, and Reiss Nelson, who all had loan spells last season, could potentially be sold at the right price. Stuttgart has shown interest in Vieira, with only the final price yet to be agreed upon.
Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko could also depart if the right offer is made, with Fenerbahce pursuing Zinchenko. We might also witness a late summer departure for backup goalkeeper Karl Hein, with Tommy Setford being promoted from the U21s to the senior squad.
Liverpool
One might assume that a team spending more than $300 million would be done for the summer. However, Liverpool has also generated a substantial amount through sales, which, coupled with the club's lack of expenditure 12 months ago, leaves some room for manoeuvre.
The defense's performance during Antoine Semenyo's goals at Anfield indicates that a new center-back could be vital. Giovanni Leoni, who arrived too late to participate in that match and is still a teenager, might see Marc Guehi join from Crystal Palace.
On the other end of the pitch, Alexander Isak is more likely to sign for Liverpool after Newcastle omitted him from its squad for Saturday's match against Aston Villa. While we're not expecting any additional arrivals, Liverpool may still profit from selling some peripheral players.
Ben Doak was completely left out on Friday and is set to finalize a permanent transfer to Bournemouth. Kostas Tsimikas appears to be the next most likely to leave after being demoted to third-choice left-back, with Nottingham Forest among those interested.
Harvey Elliott could also depart for the right offer after remaining on the bench against Bournemouth, although Federico Chiesa's goal-scoring appearance has dampened talk of the Italian leaving. Following Luca Stephenson's move north, there could be further loan exits, with James McConnell and Lewis Koumas both sought after.
