Andy Robertson’s time at Liverpool looks to be coming to an end, with the left-back on course to leave Anfield after nine years at the club.
The Reds’ vice-captain has fallen down the pecking order for his position this season following the arrival of Milos Kerkez last summer, and with his contract expiring in the summer, it does seem as though the 31-year-old will be leaving Merseyside this year.
Indeed, the latest reports are claiming that Robertson is certain to make his way out of Liverpool this summer, with developments over the past month or so seemingly sealing the Scotland international’s fate.

As such, his exit is now a “certainty”, leaving Liverpool to look for a new vice-captain, and Robertson to look for a new club during a summer in which he will captain his country at its first World Cup in 28 years.
He will certainly have options though, and Tottenham would seem to be an obvious landing spot for him. Spurs were heavily linked with Robertson in January, and at one stage, it did seem as though he would make the move to North London.

The move wouldn’t materialize, with Robertson having shown a great deal of respect to Liverpool by not pushing for the move, with the Reds ultimately deciding it couldn’t let him go amid a growing injury crisis in defense.
If he does leave as expected this summer though, Tottenham would likely be seen as the favorite to land his signature, although it remains to be seen whether Thomas Frank’s departure may have changed anything. There is also the question of what league Spurs will be playing in next season, with relegation to the Championship not out of the question at this moment in time.

Tottenham isn’t the only club that has been strongly linked with Robertson in recent times. Last summer, it was Atletico Madrid that was being touted as a possible option for him.
Again, a move to Spain wouldn’t end up happening, with Diego Simeone’s side instead signing Matteo Ruggeri from Atalanta, but Atletico continues to be linked with Robertson (as per Caught Offside this week), and he might get the chance to meet with his potential new employers in the Champions League last-16.
If neither of those options pan out though, a return to Scotland might be Robertson’s next calling.

The defender has been regularly linked with a move back to Celtic during his time at Liverpool. Robertson started out as a youth player in Glasgow before being released as a 15-year-old.
He therefore might have some unfinished business at Celtic Park, and the Scottish giants would almost certainly guarantee him European football.
Other clubs, like Wolves, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, have also been linked with Robertson’s services, and whoever does land his signature once he leaves Liverpool can certainly count themselves lucky. If this is to be his final season at Anfield, he will be much missed.
