Liverpool and Manchester United will meet for the first time this season as Arne Slot's players seek to halt their sequence of three consecutive losses.
The current Premier League champions have struggled in their previous three matches across all competitions, succumbing to defeats against Crystal Palace, Galatasaray, and Chelsea. United, by contrast, arrive at Anfield with confidence following an emphatic 2-0 victory over Sunderland.
Following the second international break of the season, both sides will face each other on Merseyside in the weekend's marquee fixture. Encouragingly for Liverpool, it has maintained an unbeaten record against United at home across the past 10 encounters.
On Friday, both Amorim and Slot provided the most recent injury updates during their individual press conferences. For Liverpool, three crucial players head into Sunday's clash with question marks over their availability.
Goalkeeper Alisson has been sidelined, while Ibrahima Konate and Ryan Gravenberch carry fitness doubts for the fixture, with Slot outlining their prospects of featuring.
"Ryan is completely fit, still has to train but fit, we are in a good place with the Dutch side," Slot confirmed in his press conference. "Ibou has come back to us and is expected to train today.
"Alisson is not training so he is out. How long out? Difficult to say as the end phase of rehab always gives you positives and negatives but not the weekend or next week."
For United, there's still a question mark over the availability of Noussair Mazraoui for the weekend match.
Since his last appearance in the 2-1 victory against Chelsea on September 20, the defender has been sidelined with an unspecified issue.
Although he linked up with the Moroccan squad during the international break, he didn't feature in the team's wins over Congo and Bahrain.
"Mazraoui, I don't know," conceded Amorim when quizzed about his team's fitness.
With Mazraoui's participation in the game uncertain, his return could provide a much-needed boost for United.
Lisandro Martinez is set to miss the trip to Anfield, but Amorim confirmed that the defender is close to making a comeback from his ACL injury.
Adding to the team news, the United manager said: "The rest of the guys, the national players are ready, but if you saw the games, some of the players played in Japan, so we need to be careful to give more time."
