Liverpool could find a few bargains in the summer transfer market, with the potential relegation peril at Tottenham opening a path to land some key players at a cut-price valuation.

Tottenham's troubles in the Premier League could help Liverpool in the summer transfer market, with plenty of potential talent available if Spurs are to get relegated this season.
The Lilywhites have been dragged into a battle at the bottom of the table, having been on a poor run of form that includes no wins in 11 league matches and none this calendar year. With the midweek round of games now complete, a 3-1 defeat for Tottenham at the hands of Crystal Palace leaves them just one point from the drop.
Relegation to the Championship could be cataclysmic for the North London outfit, with their finances set to take an almighty hit from playing in the second tier. That would almost certainly force a few key sales, while a whole host of players could look to play their football at a higher level elsewhere.

So, with that said, here's a look at five players the Reds must look at signing as options in the summer if Tottenham suffers a surprising relegation.
Micky van de Ven
Liverpool needs defensive cover. The Reds have been wheeling out a duo of Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk for the majority of the campaign, and while both have uncertain futures in the coming months, there have been few options to step in and replace them if needed.
While there is the impending arrival of Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, the possible exit of Konate as a free agent means the squad depth is back where it started. Adding someone like Micky van de Ven from Tottenham could help that strength in depth move up to the next level.

The Dutch defender has incredible pace for a covering defender, which could help Liverpool play in a more aggressive style under Slot, while he also has captaincy and leadership experience. At 24, there is plenty more to come from Van de Ven, and he has shown glimpses of a high-quality defender.
While he hasn't always shown his best this season, if the Reds can leave him a little less exposed than Tottenham does, then he will fit in fine.
Archie Gray
Of all the players to step up in the Tottenham squad this season, it's perhaps the youngsters who have shown the senior players how it is done. Archie Gray is one of the young core who have shown their best, even during the toughest moments in the season for Spurs.
The 19-year-old has shown plenty of quality and resilience since he signed for the London club from Leeds United, despite all the challenges thrown his way. Gray has been thrown all over the place with Tottenham, playing in almost every position imaginable during their injury crisis that has now spanned seasons.
While he is a midfielder by trade, he has featured at full-back, centre-back, and No. 10, all without a single complaint and often walking away with some credit. Add some stability into the mix with his technical quality and character, and the wonderkid will fulfil his potential.
As Liverpool looks at ways of making the squad younger to evolve once again, Gray could be a potential bargain for the future.

Lucas Bergvall
Continuing the theme surrounding young players with big futures, another option that teams would be looking at is Lucas Bergvall. The midfielder has shown plenty of promise since joining Tottenham from Djurgardens, but perhaps some of it has been too much, too soon.
The 20-year-old has already played 71 times for Spurs, and there is a sign of quality in there. Much like Gray, if there is some consistency and a winning team he can join and contribute to, without being relied on too heavily, then he may well be one of the stars of the upcoming generation.
Given Liverpool's search for a deep-lying playmaker, a bargain deal for Bergvall could help the dynamics of the midfield moving forward.

Dejan Kulusevski
If Liverpool is looking for another versatile attacker to help alleviate the potential exit of Mohamed Salah, then Dejan Kulusevski could be the option that comes out of nowhere. The Tottenham star may have dropped off a few radars over the past year, as his serious knee injury has seen the Swedish international out of action for the whole campaign so far.
However, at his best, the forward was playing at a devastating level for opposition defences to deal with. The 25-year-old is capable of playing as a direct goal threat, but he was also available to set up his teammates with inventive passing that helped drag Spurs up the table.
His absence, along with that of James Maddison, has been strongly felt by Spurs. If Liverpool is to improve, it's clear they need to improve the open play threat they provide, and Kulusevski could offer just that.

Pedro Porro
Liverpool has struggled to nail down the right-back spot this season, following the exit of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid last summer. Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong have suffered injury concerns throughout, meaning that Slot has relied on versatile stars to fill in on the flank.
Perhaps a move for Tottenham's Pedro Porro could help solve those issues, while unlocking Frimpong in a more advanced role, if Spurs do get relegated. The Spaniard has plenty of attacking intent with quality deliveries and set-pieces, although question marks remain over some of his defending.

While it remains to be seen whether Liverpool would be willing to add another full-back to their ranks, it could be a move that works, given Porro's Premier League experience.
