Liverpool host Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday, but seven players are set to miss out for both sides through various injuries
A total of seven players are expected to be unavailable for Saturday's Premier League fixture between Liverpool and Fulham, highlighting the toll of a packed fixture schedule. Arne Slot has faced a challenging period since the Reds resumed following the March international break.
The club suffered elimination from the FA Cup quarter-finals at the hands of Manchester City last weekend, losing 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium, before Wednesday's first leg of their semi-final Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain brought further disappointment. Following that encounter, Liverpool returned from the Parc des Princes having lost 2-0.
While the Reds face a significant challenge in next week's return leg at home, particularly given PSG's exceptional current form, their focus now shifts entirely to this weekend's domestic clash with Fulham.
With only seven matches remaining, Liverpool occupy fifth position in the Premier League table, trailing the top four by five points. If the club wishes to secure European football for 2026/27, either a strong conclusion to the English top-flight campaign or outright Champions League victory is required - the latter appearing increasingly unlikely following this week's outcome.
Slot's vital Premier League push must begin this weekend, though his squad has undeniably been weakened by several significant injuries in recent weeks. Despite Alexander Isak's return against PSG with restricted minutes - his first competitive appearance since fracturing his leg against Tottenham in December - four other players will require additional time on the sidelines before returning to fitness.
Alisson Becker has been working diligently to recover from a recent problem which has sidelined him since Liverpool's mid-March encounter with Brighton ahead of the international break. Nevertheless, Saturday's fixture against Fulham arrives slightly too early for his comeback.
Slot said of the goalkeeper during his pre-match press conference: "We don't get the player back yet but Alisson is working hard to get his way back. He won't be in this weekend."

Conor Bradley, on the other hand, is anticipated to remain unavailable for the remainder of the campaign following a knee injury sustained against Arsenal at the turn of the year, while Wataru Endo faces a comparable situation due to a foot injury picked up against Sunderland in February.
Giovani Leoni has also not featured for his side since his debut against Southampton in the Carabao Cup in September, when he suffered a season-ending ACL injury. Isak may also see his playing time limited once again as he continues to gradually work his way back into contention.
However, Liverpool aren't the only team dealing with injuries heading into this weekend's fixture. When questioned about whether supporters might see Kevin return before the campaign concludes, Marco Silva said: "Lets see. Okay, he is very positive, so we have to go step by step.
"For the next one no, but we have seven games to play. Lets see if at least we can have him or not. But right now, not sure about it."
The Brazilian remains unavailable due to a foot injury sustained against Sunderland in February. Additionally, Silva has confirmed that Kenny Tete will be absent as he continues his rehabilitation from his own foot problem, while Harrison Reed will also be unavailable owing to a knee injury.
Fulham also head into the fixture with a potential spot in Europe next season up for grabs. At the time of writing, the Cottagers sit ninth in the league standings just two points shy of a top seven finish.
