Liverpool's return to Premier League action after the international break is imminent.

The Reds are on a mission to defend their league title and remain the only top-flight club with a flawless record after three matches. Arne Slot's players have secured victories over Bournemouth, Newcastle, and Arsenal in the opening weeks of the new season.

Liverpool's next challenge is an away match against Burnley on September 14, which could potentially see a debut for a fresh face. Alexander Isak joined Liverpool on deadline day. Whether the forward will make his first appearance for the Reds at Turf Moor is yet to be determined.

Isak was an unused substitute in Sweden's World Cup qualifier draw against Slovenia on Friday.

"He (Isak) had only done three training sessions with the team," Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson told reporters.

"No pre-season with the team and of course no playing time.

"The risk is probably a bit too great to use him today."

Liverpool also had Jeremie Frimpong out of action before the international break.

Frimpong sustained a muscle injury in the season opener against Bournemouth and has been absent for the last two games, but there's hope that the right-back could rejoin the squad for the Burnley match.

Florian Wirtz and Ibrahima Konate were potential injury concerns for Liverpool following the victory over Arsenal last week.

However, both players have since represented their respective countries in recent days, alleviating worries for Reds fans.

Burnley's manager, Scott Parker, faces a series of fitness worries as Premier League football is set to resume next week.

Six players were absent from the team's 3-2 loss to Manchester United prior to the international break, and it's uncertain whether any will be back.

Axel Tuanzebe, Armando Broja, Bashir Humphreys, Connor Roberts, Jordan Bayer, and Zeki Amdouni all missed the defeat at Old Trafford, and an update on their potential availability is expected from Parker next week.
