AD FEATURE: Alejandro Garnacho and more transfers Chelsea tipped to complete before deadline day

2 hours ago 55

There is an intriguing season ahead for Chelsea and there is cause for optimism, as well as expectation, after an impressive end to Enzo Maresca's debut campaign. The Blues are back in the Champions League and double winners after their triumph in both the UEFA Conference League and Club World Cup.

It has been a busy summer already with a host of fresh faces through the door at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea won the race to sign Joao Pedro after beating Newcastle United to his signature and the Brazilian made an immediate impact scoring twice during the Blues' triumph in the United States.

Chelsea's campaign kicks off with a home encounter against the reigning FA Cup holders Crystal Palace this month but there are three matches before the transfer window closes at the beginning of September.

football.london has now examined the deals United could complete before the end of the transfer window, looking at the latest odds from bet365.

Ins

Alejandro Garnacho

Chelsea have been long-standing suitors to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United.

Reports suggest that the Blues have no worries about the attackers' attitude after doing their due diligence on the Argentine.

Garnacho faces a precarious future at Old Trafford following reports that he was one of five United players to signal their desire to leave the Red Devils this summer.

Bet365 has Chelsea as resounding 4/11 favourites for Garnacho to be playing for the Blues after the deadline passes.

An Old Trafford stay is priced at 9/4 while the possibility of following Marcus Rashford's path to Aston Villa is 9/2.

Chelsea writer Tom Coley says: As far as left-wing options go, Garnacho is about as good as they get. The interesting thing for Chelsea is that they have already committed to paying £55 million for Jamie Gittens.

Garnacho is a Premier League proven player whereas Gittens is much further back on his developmental journey. Adding both, alongside Joao Pedro, who can also play on the left, would be quite the log jam. Xavi Simons also plays from that side.

However, if a low-price deal can be done then it would be value for money as Garnacho has everything it takes to succeed at the top level.

Benjamin Sesko

Manchester United and Newcastle United appear to be in a two-team battle to sign RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko.

Chelsea, however, are never far away from speculation surrounding the latest blockbuster Premier League arrival.

But Bet365 have priced the Blues as outsiders in the pursuit to sign the Slovenian with their chances a huge 33/1.

The Magpies are favourites at 8/11 while the Reds are second in the running at evens.

Chelsea writer Tom Coley says: With Liam Delap and Pedro already coming in, it would be a surprise if Chelsea were to go in for Sesko at this stage. He is definitely a talented player but the rawness to his game has put off other teams already.

His speed and physical abilities make him suited to life in England but how he would manage against low defences remains to be seen. Sesko may have started the year on Chelsea's radar but it's not one they are likely to pursue now.

Eberechi Eze

With the arrival of Gittens and the embarrassment of riches in attacking areas, it was always a surprise to see Chelsea linked with the services of Eberechi Eze.

Arsenal have made the England international their priority signing as Mikel Arteta remains intent on strengthening his attacking options.

Bet365 are providing markets on Eze's club when the transfer window shuts at the beginning of September and the Gunners are the favourite to land his signature.

The North London club are 4/7 to sign the attacker while he is 11/8 to remain at Selhurst Park but Chelsea are a sizeable 18/1.

Chelsea writer Tom Coley says: Although Eze is a player that Chelsea like, they have turned towards Simons for the left-sided operator who can also go inside to be a No.10. The two may well end up going for a similar price, with Arsenal leading the race and having Eze as their main priority.

Chelsea have looked at Eze and his international teammate, Morgan Rogers, before. They wanted that profile of player but have gone somewhere else.

Gianluigi Donnarumma

The goalkeeping position has come under immense scrutiny at Stamford Bridge in recent years. Chelsea have struggled for a consistent performer between the sticks and as a result there have been frequent changes to the starter in goal.

Robert Sanchez was handed the opportunity for Chelsea during the Club World Cup while Filip Jorgensen was consigned to a handful of Premier League appearances last term.

The Blues have already tried to sign AC Milan shot-stopper Mike Maignan but failed to land the Frenchman. However, they have been mooted as potential contenders to sign Donnarumma, who is out of contract at Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain next summer.

Bet365 suggest that remaining in the French capital is the most likely outcome this summer but Chelsea come in at 7/1, marginally behind Manchester United at 3/1.

Chelsea writer Tom Coley says: Chelsea had been expected to go in for a new goalkeeper this summer but things quietened down after Mike Maignan fell through. Now, the club outwardly back Robert Sanchez.

They have high hopes for Mike Penders as well and ideally will be finding a stop gap until he is deemed ready. That could take two years and questions over Sanchez's concentration and suitability to short passing remain.

Donnarumma is not much of a passer himself but does possess a great reach which makes him a brilliant shot-stopper. For the money that his wage demands will cost it is likely to have come at the wrong time for Chelsea, who are going to stick rather than twist on their goalkeepers.

Outs

Nicolas Jackson

With the arrival of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, the future of Nicolas Jackson has come under scrutiny.

The striker's season ended unceremoniously last term after a red card against Newcastle United meant he missed the end of the Premier League season.

He was also sent off during the Club World Cup during their only defeat of the tournament against Flamengo in the group stage.

With Manchester United and Newcastle in the market for attacking reinforcements, they both have been linked with a sensational move for Senegal striker.

Bet365 odds suggest that Chelsea will keep hold of him with the odds of that happening 5/6. A cross-Premier League switch to Newcastle is second favourite in the market at 2/1 while Manchester United's odds have shortned to 8/1.

Juventus are third favourites at 6/1.

Chelsea writer Tom Coley says: Jackson has had a terrible few months. He has been sent off twice in important games, letting down his teammates and losing any remaining faith from supporters. He now faces competition from Delap and the immediate hit of Pedro.

Chelsea still value him highly and would not want to sell for anything under £70m. Whether or not any desperate teams late on in the window would pay that for him remains to be seen. Jackson could be a real asset for Chelsea this season or he could try to force himself into being a number one striker elsewhere. It is a big few weeks for him.

Christopher Nkunku

Christopher Nkunku faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge with his role within the Chelsea first-team diminishing.

After a spate of injury issues, he was primarily used as a substitute which has led to the prospect of leaving the Blues.

Unlike Jackson, Bet365's market on his future suggests that his future is more likely away from West London.

Inter Milan are favourites to sign him at 5/2 whereas Bayern Munich are 5/1. Nkunku extending his Chelsea stay into a third year is currently rated at 5/1.

Chelsea writer Tom Coley says: Nkunku has been heading toward the exit door for a while now. He was under serious consideration to go in January.

The Club World Cup has helped his standing and improved his form and attractiveness to outsiders, but that has not led to any bids yet. Chelsea are open to selling him with things simply not working out in England.
