Former Tottenham midfielder Adel Taarabt has revealed how he has reacted to seeing Spurs in a part of the Premier League table that they do not belong in.
While many have questioned the quality of the current Tottenham squad from the start of the season, almost no one would have expected the Lilywhites to be in the position that they currently are.
With just nine league games left, Spurs find themselves just one point off the relegation zone, and their direct rivals, Nottingham Forest and West Ham, are in much better form.
Tottenham are yet to win a game since the start of 2026, and the arrival of Igor Tudor has failed to change the direction of the club’s fortunes.

Something is not right at Tottenham
Taarabt has become the latest ex-Tottenham player to comment on the club’s current predicament.
The Moroccan international admitted that it is strange to see the North Londoners where they are, and suggested that something is clearly wrong behind the scenes.
The former Spurs attacking midfielder told Telecom Asia: “I mean, everyone watches the Premier League, and it’s strange to see where Spurs are at the moment.
“I have seen some games this season, and I didn’t think they played that badly, but then you also just get the feeling that something is not right. It’s really surprising, but I guess that is football and the gap between teams is getting narrower and narrower.”
Relegation will wreak havoc at Spurs
It has been widely reported that relegation from the Premier League will have a crippling financial effect on Tottenham.
By some estimations, Spurs’ revenue could take a £250m hit if they go down in the Championship, due to a loss in sponsorship, matchday and broadcast income.
It has been suggested that there could be a mass exodus from Tottenham if they go down, with elite clubs across Europe eyeing many of the Lilywhites’ star players.
