Alan Brazil thinks 53-year-old manager is keen on Tottenham job, but one pundit says it’s a bad idea

Several pundits and journalists have reacted to the rumours doing the rounds about Thomas Frank’s potential replacements at Tottenham.

Following the 2-1 defeat to West Ham United, it appears Tottenham are at least weighing up the idea of sacking Thomas Frank, just seven months into his North London tenure.

One report even claims that a member of the Spurs executive team has actively recommended Frank’s dismissal after the club’s latest loss.

It has been reported over recent days that Spurs have settled on a three-man shortlist to replace Frank as the North London club’s board continue to debate whether the Dane is right for the job.

Pundit believes Mauricio Pochettino wants Tottenham return

The three names put forward in the article mentioned above were Andoni Iraola, Mauricio Pochettino, and Oliver Glasner.

Former Tottenham forward Alan Brazil believes that Pochettino would be keen on returning to N17 next summer, particularly following Daniel Levy’s exit.

Brazil said on talkSPORT Breakfast about the Argentine: “He’s a really nice guy. I think he wants to come back. Daniel Levy has gone now, so maybe he could come back after the World Cup.”

However, talkSPORT’s Sonny Snelling believes that it would be a big mistake for the Lilywhites to go back to the 53-year-old, suggesting instead that the club should hire a young, up-and-coming manager.

Snelling said on talkSPORT’s Insider Spurs: “Never go back to an ex. I feel like the ship has maybe sailed on him, which is a shame. I feel like when you do look at his time at PSG and Chelsea, like there were good moments there. I just feel like now with the World Cup, it depends how that goes for the US. They’ve not had great prep.

“I am lost for words who we have next because my idea would be to pick a young coach because I feel like these last two project managers have been a bit set in their ways. I feel like these younger coaches who are out there are more open to some transfers to come in that they can improve on.”

Spurs fans accused of being divorced from reality

Fellow host, Majestic, believes that a section of the Tottenham fan base would turn their noses up at Pochettino. He stated that Spurs supporters need a reality check on where the club currently are, claiming that their expectations need to come down.

He added: “I do think the whole energy of Spurs needs to change. But the problem is there’s a whole heap of fan base that’ll be like, Pochettino’s not the guy. He’s rubbish. He’s not won anything.

“Because we have the beautiful stadium and the beautiful training facilities and this, and we are a big club historically, I think people think we’re in a bigger place than what we are. I just think a lot of fans need a reality check.”
