Chelsea were defeated 3-2 by Arsenal on Wednesday but Alejandro Garnacho is hopeful the Blues can turn the tie around

Alejandro Garnacho has called on the Chelsea squad to "give everything" if they are to progress to the Carabao Cup final.

The Blues were defeated 3-2 by Arsenal in the first leg at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, with Garnacho scoring a brace against the Gunners to take his tally for the season to six.

With the second leg of the semi-final scheduled for February 3, the £40million summer signing from Manchester United believes Liam Rosenior's side have what it takes to go all the way.

"I always try to do my best, and today I helped with goals off the bench," the Argentine said.

"Every attacker wants to score goals, but my job is to try and help the team. I tried today, and it wasn’t enough, but it’s not over yet. The game is open, there’s just one goal difference.

"We know how hard it is to play at the Emirates, but we know the team we have, and we know what we can do. We have to go there and give everything."

After starting in Rosenior's first match in charge away at Chariton a few days earlier, Garnacho had to settle for a place on the bench against the Gunners. The 21-year-old was brought on soon after Viktor Gyokeres' goal early in the second half, however, and went on to make a serious impact during his 37 minutes on the pitch.

"Sometimes you play from the start, and other times you don't," Garnacho said. "The players on the bench are just as important as the players in the first XI, and I just tried to do my best. I think we are still in it, and we will try everything. I’m here to try and do my best.

"We always try to win the games, and it’s frustrating when you don’t win the game. We started a little bit slowly, but in the second half we were much better. We now have to try everything in the second leg."

When asked if he is enjoying life under Rosenior, Garnacho added: "He’s a good guy. He’s changed some things, but we are still the same team and the same group. We are all together."
