Alejandro Garnacho has been speaking about his the £40million move from Manchester United to Chelsea over the summer transfer window with the Argentine giving a blunt response

Alejandro Garnacho does not regret the way he left Manchester United following his £40million move to Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old left Old Trafford in August after a public falling out with United boss Ruben Amorim, as well as a desire to play more regular first-team football. Garnacho was asked on Monday evening, ahead of Chelsea's Champions League clash with Atalanta, whether he regretted the manner in which he departed Manchester, and simply replied: "No."

Bayern Munich came in for Garnacho while Chelsea were interested in signing the Argentine, but the winger wanted to remain in the Premier League and said moving to Stamford Bridge was an "easy decision".

"I wanted to stay in the Premier League because I think it’s the best league in the world," said Garnacho. "I spoke with the manager [Enzo Maresca] before I came here and he explained to me the project, he convinced me and I’m really happy to be here.

"Sometimes in life, you have to change things to take a step forward or to improve as a player. I think it was the right moment and the right club. So it was an easy decision."

Enzo Maresca has said since signing Garnacho that the winger still has so much to improve, not only on the ball but off it as well. Maresca is a very demanding coach, but Garnacho is relishing the opportunity to work under the Chelsea boss and has accepted he needs to continue working on how he performs out of possession.

"Today, in modern football, defending is an important part of the game because every team you face is strong and you have to defend with everyone," Garnacho said. "I know I have to defend if I want to play, he [Maresca] told me this. So I try to do the work he asks and with the ball, he told me to go with it and if I lose it recover. So I have to help the team defensively but that is a part of football."

Chelsea take on Atalanta in their sixth Champions League match of the season as the Blues, who start the game week in seventh place, look to take a big step towards automatic qualification via the top eight.
