Alexander Isak opens door to Liverpool transfer after confirming Newcastle exit wish

3 weeks ago 58

Alexander Isak has told Liverpool that he wants to explore the possibility of leaving the club this summer, according to reports.

Isak was omitted from Newcastle's traveling squad for the pre-season tour of Asia, which gets under way with a friendly against Arsenal this weekend, with the club saying that he had been left out due to a minor thigh injury.

There was understandable skepticism over that reason from the off, though, after Isak missed last weekend's friendly with Celtic, with Newcastle lost 4-0.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe confirmed after that game in Glasgow that Isak had been left out due to the speculation linking him with a move away from the St. James' Park club.

The Daily Mail reports that Newcastle is aware of Isak's desire to explore his options — and one of those options could be for him to join Liverpool.
