Alexander Isak post deleted by Sky Sports after furious backlash

Sky Sports removed a clip from their social media platforms following backlash from Newcastle supporters.

The controversial footage showed fans chanting what appeared to be a song aimed at Alexander Isak, who continues to seek an exit from the club. Isak is believed to have informed Newcastle's hierarchy that he considers his time at the club to be over.

He remains under contract with the Magpies for the time being, despite Liverpool having a bid turned down, though he stays firmly in the sights of the Premier League champions.

"There's only one greedy b------," chanted sections of the traveling support following Eddie Howe's team's stalemate with Aston Villa on Saturday, reports the Mirror.

Nevertheless, supporters expressed fury with Sky Sports for broadcasting the chants whilst showing Newcastle players departing the pitch, insisting the singing only commenced after those who had featured had already left the field.

"Utter disgrace," one supporter posted on social media. "Editing this to make it look like that was being sung in front of the players. Why do that?".

The same supporter referenced a Sky Sports Instagram post, which has subsequently been deleted.

"That's my Sky subscription cancelled tomorrow," a second supporter responded to the footage, whilst a third commented: "That singing was done way after the players had gone" and others pondered contacting broadcasting regulator Ofcom. Following the match, Newcastle boss Howe was questioned about the supporters' chants as well as striker Isak's future.

"I'm not going to have a big opinion on [the chants]," he remarked, according to the Shields Gazette.

"The supporters supported the team which is my big ask, which they have done unbelievably well. If they want to say something afterwards, they are free to do that."

Anthony Gordon operated as a false nine in Isak's absence, with Newcastle failing to find the net despite their rivals finishing the contest with 10 men following Ezri Konsa's dismissal. Offensive reinforcements might materialise before deadline day, with Yoane WIssa and Goncalo Ramos both rumoured, though Howe was pleased with Gordon's showing.

"I can't criticize anyone who played today. I thought Anthony Gordon was very good in that position," Howe informed TNT Sports. "I couldn't fault his performance. I think we have to focus at how the team functioned rather than any individual.

"If you're not totally together in the Premier League, you're going to find it very difficult. I think we answered a few questions today in terms of our spirit. We have to do that on a regular basis, not just today."

"From my perspective, you want a resolution quickly," he continued when pressed about Isak. "It's taking away the focus of the players, of the supporters. We want to be united together. We'd like a resolution, but we're not in control of that."
