Alexis Mac Allister's father and agent, Carlos, has denied that talks are ongoing to extend the midfielder's contract at Liverpool.

Following the news that Ryan Gravenberch has penned a new deal, confirmed on Saturday, reports have since suggested that Mac Allister is among those the Reds are looking to tie down to a new contract.

Despite the Argentine's dip in form this season, he remains a vital player for Arne Slot. Mac Allister has missed just two games this term and has started 24 of Liverpool's 29 Premier League matches. His current contract expires in 2028, the same year that Gravenberch's previous deal concluded.

Dominik Szoboszlai, who Liverpool is also in talks with over a new contract, has a deal that expires in two years.

That has perhaps led to a natural assumption that Mac Allister's representatives have been negotiating a new deal like his midfield colleagues; however, the player's father claimed that is not the case.

"There are no negotiations with Liverpool to renew the contract," he told WinWin.com.

Mac Allister has attracted interest from Real Madrid in recent years, although it remains unclear whether Los Blancos' eagerness to sign the World Cup winner has been impacted by his downturn in form this season.

There were even reports linking Mac Allister with a shock move to Liverpool's bitter rival, Manchester United, last month, although the player's father again spoke out on those rumors, distancing his son from the controversial transfer.

"Alexis is only thinking about Liverpool at the moment," he told WinWin.

"We are waiting for an offer to renew his contract. We will see what the club's plan is."

The 27-year-old started Liverpool's 3-1 win over Wolves, but he was replaced with a knee injury.

Slot has since said the problem does not look serious.

Mac Allister joined Liverpool in 2023 from Brighton, making 136 appearances in that period.

He has recently discovered a scoring streak, with two in his last three Premier League appearances.

Mac Allister also netted a brace in the Champions League victory over Qarabag in late January.
