Former Premier League manager Tim Sherwood has claimed that Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya is "up there with Alisson" with the pair by far and away the best in their position in the country.
Raya was a key man for Arsenal as it won 1-0 against Manchester United at the weekend and that prompted Sherwood into suggesting that the Spaniard is on a par with his Liverpool counterpart.
"Raya is right up there with Alisson as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League," Sherwood told Bet Brain. "His decision-making with his feet is fantastic now and he just continues to make amazing saves.
"Arsenal’s goal is a perfect example of what Manchester United were missing — Altay Bayindir flaps at that Declan Rice corner, whereas Raya stuck his fist out at a very similar one and dealt with it well.
"Raya is in golden form at the moment. I believe him and Alisson are out there on their own as the best keepers in the division."
Liverpool signed Alisson from AS Roma in 2018 for what was then a world-record fee. He has since played 300 times for the Reds, keeping a total of 125 clean sheets.
On the opening day of the new Premier League season, Alisson was beaten twice by Antoine Semenyo, but Liverpool beat Bournemouth anyway, with Federico Chiesa netting a late goal.
It was an emotional occasion, with Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, remembered before kick-off. The Liverpool number 20 was tragically lost in a car crash earlier this summer.
"We handled it really well," Alisson told NBC Sports post-match. "At the game, you want the result for the first thing, but also we are concerned about how we get the result, that’s why we’ve been in training in the pre-season.

"Of course, with all of the things that happened in the last month with us, it wasn’t easy. It’s never easy. But I think everybody is coping in a good way because we are together.
"Today, the supporters showed us the support they have, and most important is that we are together in this.
"We have big goals and big targets for this season. That is to fight for the title again, not only for the Premier League but for the other competitions, because this is the standard of Liverpool FC."
Liverpool.com says: Alisson is by far the best goalkeeper around. Raya is very good as well, but the Brazilian's shot-stopping, when he is at his instinctive best, is on another level.
