Liverpool and Arne Slot were held to a goalless draw by Leeds at Anfield on New Year's Day, with a number of talking points emerging from the Premier League game

Liverpool's undefeated streak stretched to eight matches following a goalless stalemate with Leeds on New Year's Day.
The Reds couldn't crack a resilient Leeds team; the Yorkshire club has now snatched two points from the Reds this season, following the 3-3 draw at Elland Road just weeks prior.
This result leaves Arne Slot's players fourth in the Premier League table heading to Fulham on Sunday with a slim three-point lead over Chelsea, currently without a manager, and trailing Manchester City in third by nine points. Aston Villa have jumped above Pep Guardiola's team into second by beating Nottingham Forest 3-1 on Saturday.

What might have slipped under your radar, though, are several intriguing subplots as Liverpool chalked up its first goalless draw in more than two years. Here are the top moments missed from the match...
Konate's power
Deep down, Brenden Aaronson must have known he was fighting a losing battle going shoulder to shoulder with the formidable Ibrahima Konate.
When the Liverpool defender left him sprawled near the touchline, there was little the Leeds playmaker could do but appeal for a free-kick after being outmuscled. Aaronson, who played a key role for the Whites in both draws against the Reds this season, simply wasn't strong enough in the challenge against the center-back.
After picking himself up near the touchline, the American voiced his frustrations to the fourth official, clearly annoyed that he wasn't awarded the free-kick.
Konate, however, proved too formidable, sending his counterpart tumbling. Aaronson's protests fell on deaf ears with the officials.
Alisson's true colors
After achieving his 100th clean sheet as Liverpool's goalkeeper, a feat only accomplished by four others before him, Alisson might have felt justified in keeping his match-worn jersey as a keepsake.

It's uncertain whether the Brazilian international was aware of this milestone at full-time, but as he headed towards the Anfield tunnel, a fan's cardboard sign caught the attention of the Reds' No. 1.
Ever the gentleman, Alisson took off his shirt and handed it to the young fan, undoubtedly making an already memorable evening even more so. A Happy New Year indeed.
Frimpong embraced
Jeremie Frimpong was in the midst of a post-match interview with the press when he was spotted by someone believed to be the parent of international teammate Ryan Gravenberch.
As the versatile Dutch player chatted away to reporters, he was jokingly told by Mr. Gravenberch that he'd forgotten who he was now that he was a Premier League star. Frimpong quickly dismissed this playful accusation as the pair shared a laugh and a hug.
As they embraced, the Reds defender concluded his mixed zone appearance with a high five and a chat as they moved closer to the players' lounge. It's clear to see why the amiable Dutchman is such a hit behind the scenes.
