Andy Robertson has praised "fantastic" Liverpool defender Milos Kerkez while claiming he doesn't have a point to prove in the battle with the Hungarian international for the left-back slot in the starting lineup.
It came as the experienced Scottish full-back put in an impressive shift for the Reds from the very first whistle in their 3-1 win over Wolves in the FA Cup. Arne Slot gave the 31-year-old the nod to start the cup tie at Molineux, pairing with Rio Ngumoha on the left flank.
It was Robertson's contribution in the second half that got Liverpool going, as his strike from outside the box found the back of the net to give his side the lead. That was later followed up by goals from Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones to ensure safe passage to the next round.

As it stands, his long-term future remains uncertain, having battled with summer signing Kerkez for a starting spot this season.
While his display at Molineux may have proven a point to Slot over his position in the team, Robertson simply doesn't see it that way, and his simple comment on Kerkez' ability made it clear he has plenty of admiration for his teammate.
He said after the game: "I'm not sure if I have a point to prove in a Liverpool shirt. The fans know I give everything in a Liverpool shirt.
"When you get on the pitch you just want to enjoy it. It is what it is. Milos [Kerkez] is a fantastic left-back. He had an unbelievable season last season at Bournemouth.
"It took time to settle into a big club. The club has to move forward, the lads who have been here so long are not getting any younger. You have to accept it. I have had competition my whole career."

Robertson has made 27 appearances for Liverpool this season, with the strike against Wolves being the second goal he's scored this campaign. He also picked up an assist for his troubles in the match, taking him up to two of each across all competitions when he's been called upon.
The Scotsman has been a dependable option when available, helping take some of the heat away from Kerkez after a difficult start to life at Anfield. The 22-year-old initially struggled to settle after joining from Bournemouth, but with 36 appearances under his belt this season, there are signs of him returning back to his best.
"This is what you get if you play longer together with your teammates," Slot explained on his persistence with playing Kerkez to the press last month. "This is what you get if you keep playing those players, even if they are maybe in sometimes having moments in games that are not as good as other moments, or games that have not been as good as other games.

"This is also normal for younger players and the only thing you can do as a manager is keep trusting them and keep believing in them because we know, we signed [him], we saw his potential and we knew - and it already has been shown - that potential will be seen if you keep playing them.
"But there are a lot, a lot of games to be played and for him, it was the first time the combination of Premier League and Champions League, that's why I'm also so happy to have Robbo [Andy Robertson] in the squad because he has helped the team on multiple occasions as well. But definitely Milos is another example of a very young player we've signed where the best of him is still to come and he's already developed this season."
While the long-term future may well sit with Kerkez at Liverpool, fans will still be cherishing every moment they can get from the ever-professional Robertson before he makes his eventual exit.
