Anthony Gordon is being linked with a move to Liverpool, where his "best mate in football" currently plays – but that might not be the case for much longer

Anthony Gordon would reportedly "jump at the chance" to join Liverpool this summer, two years on from the collapse of his move from Newcastle to Liverpool.
The England forward spent much of the summer of 2024 believing that he would end up at Anfield, only for the deal to collapse as Newcastle found other ways to comply with PSR regulations. Despite signing a long-term contract extension at Newcastle in the months that followed, The Telegraph reports that Gordon is now ready to move on from Tyneside.
Bayern Munich were credited with an interest in Gordon earlier this week, while Arsenal has also been linked, but Liverpool would surely be the boyhood Red's dream destination.

At 25 years old, Jones wants to play more frequently, and although he features regularly for Liverpool, he has never been a guaranteed starter for the club.
Inter Milan is an admirer of the midfielder, having enquired about his availability during the January transfer window, and could make another approach this summer.
Although Inter would seem like a far more appealing option for Jones – whose Liverpool contract is due to expire next summer –Tottenham is said to also hold an interest in him.
Of course, there is no chance that Tottenham would be able to sign Jones if it is relegated to the Championship.

Jones is one of nine players The Telegraph reports that Liverpool could offload this summer in order to pave the way for a squad overhaul.
Were Jones to leave, it would take away the possibility of him playing alongside his best friend for the Reds.
In an interview with ITV Sport last year, Jones and Gordon revealed how much time they spend together while away on England duty.
Gordon said: "Probably every second, I think unless we're in our rooms showering after training, we're together," before Jones chimed in, adding: "Or asleep, that's it. We're just away from each other then."
In an interview with British GQ last year, Jones was asked if he had any friends in football outside of the pitch, to which he responded with: “Anthony Gordon is probably my only best mate in the football world."
