Anthony Gordon showed his class by praising new Liverpool striker Alexander Isak as a "great person and teammate" following his dream transfer to Anfield on deadline day.
Isak's £125 million ($169 million) switch from Newcastle to Liverpool was confirmed on Monday, around two-and-a-half hours after the transfer deadline had passed. However, the deal sheet had been lodged in time, giving the Reds additional time to announce the acquisition and complete Isak's signing.
The Sweden international has signed a six-year deal at the Reds and could make his bow when they travel to Burnley on Sunday, September 14. Isak then has the opportunity to feature at home for the first time, as Atletico Madrid visits three days afterwards.
During his spell at Newcastle, Isak found the net 62 times in 109 outings and helped the Magpies claim the Carabao Cup back in March, scoring in the final against Liverpool.
And his former teammate Gordon - who has long been linked with his own switch to Liverpool - has since posted a message to Isak following his exit from St. James' Park.
Gordon, who has 570,000 followers, wrote on Instagram: "Regardless of the situation and what's gone on. It's been a pleasure to play with you. One of the best chemistries I've had on the pitch and more importantly a great person and teammate. I wish you nothing but the best brother," alongside a red love heart emoji.
The ex-Everton player became the second current Newcastle star to comment on Isak's transfer to Liverpool via social media, following Sven Botman. The Dutch center-back was the first to wish him well at the Reds.
Botman expressed: "What started off as teammates growed in one of my rare best friendships. No more words needed brother, all the best in your next chapter, alongside a red love heart emoji. @alex_isak."
Isak, on the other hand, shared his excitement about securing his move to Liverpool.
He told Liverpoolfc.com: "I feel amazing. It's been a long journey to get here. But I'm super-happy to be a part of this team, this club and everything it stands for. It's something I'm proud of and I'm really looking forward to it.
"I'm just happy it's done and that I can get back to work. I'm looking forward to seeing my teammates and the fans, and getting back out there. I think I have a lot to give, I think I have a lot to improve. I'm a striker but I always want to give as much as possible to the team, mainly goals but much more than that as well.
"I want to win everything. Yeah, [as simple as that]."
Isak added: "Me getting the chance to be a part of this, I want to create history. I want to win trophies. That's ultimately the biggest motivation for me and I feel like this is the perfect place for me to grow even further and to take my game to the next level and help the team as well.
"I feel like this is the next step for me in my career. I'm super-happy that I've been given this chance and I'm very motivated to do something well with it."
