A transfer release clause could pave the way for Liverpool to snap up Antoine Semenyo at a lower price. The Bournemouth striker has been turning heads in the Premier League this season.

The Ghanaian, who won't be featuring in the Africa Cup of Nations due to his country's failure to qualify, has been linked with a summer move to Anfield and is also on the radar ahead of the January transfer window.

In October, it was widely reported that Semenyo had a hefty $133 million (£100M) price tag. However, recent revelations indicate he has a release clause of $80M (£60M) plus an additional $7M (£5M) in add-ons, although this reduced price does come with an expiry date.

As per GiveMeSport, Semenyo's release clause is only valid for the first 10 days of the January transfer window, which begins on New Year's Day. It's also suggested that he hasn't yet made up his mind about a potential move next month.

Manchester United has reportedly entered direct talks with Bournemouth over a possible move for the forward next month, while Manchester City is also believed to have expressed interest. This season, he has netted eight goals and provided three assists in the Premier League, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Liverpool has already splashed out heavily in the attacking department, bringing in Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak. However, with Mohamed Salah's future hanging in the balance and Wirtz and Isak struggling to settle at Anfield, Sky Sports report that the Reds are keeping a close eye on Semenyo's situation.

Arne Slot witnessed Semenyo's capabilities first-hand early in the campaign, when the former Bristol City forward netted an outstanding double at Anfield. Nevertheless, there's no guarantee Semenyo is eager to depart the Vitality Stadium.

During the summer window, he committed to a five-year contract with Andoni Iraola's side amid rumors of a possible exit. When asked about his future by Sky Sports in early November, he remarked: "I don't think about it too much.

"I try to stay present as much as I can. You see the news all the time, I see it as well, I'm not oblivious, but I try to keep focused.

"I'm enjoying my football here. If I'm not scoring goals, all of that goes away. I try to stay present, do the best I can for the team, score goals and whatever happens in the future happens.

"When they [his former team-mates] all left [in the summer], there was a lot of interest and back and forth with the club, but I knew in my head that the manager's got something up his sleeve this year.

"How we finished off the season last year was so good and we could continue, especially with the players we've bought in as well.
