Igor Tudor has delivered an update on Antonin Kinsky following a difficult night against Atletico Madrid, with the Tottenham Hotspur boss addressing the goalkeeper’s immediate future.
Tuesday’s outing in the Champions League round of 16 first leg against Atletico Madrid was one to forget for Tottenham Hotspur, and most especially Antonin Kinsky.
The young Czech shot-stopper earned his first start for Spurs since last October and will have been hoping to make an impression.
However, it quickly became a night to forget as two goalkeeping howlers from him saw Spurs go three goals down by the 16th minute, prompting Tudor to take the 22-year-old off immediately.

Tottenham boss Igor Tudor confirms Antonin Kinsky will play again this season
A lot has been made about Tudor’s handling of the goalkeeper after such a low moment.
Joe Hart and Steve McManaman slammed the Spurs interim manager after he failed to embrace or say a word as Kinsky made his way down the tunnel having been subbed off early.
After the Atletico Madrid clash, Tudor explained that he had spoken to Kinsky, and he has now revealed that the Czech international will still feature for Spurs this season.
Speaking to football.london, the Tottenham boss made it clear that the goalkeeper remains part of his plans despite the difficult night.
He said: “No, of course he will play [this season] for sure. He came back the day after and was very good in training. Positive. Nothing else. So this situation happened, very rare, probably the first and last time in my life and the life of a lot of people but this can happen.
“It is the same message I said before. You can go out from the situation as a victim. ‘Poor me what happened.’ Everybody sending a message of help and I am with you. This is nice also.
“Sometimes in 2025 this social media life became like it is more important what you say than what you do. But as I said before, this is normal, this is a mistake that will happen. For sure, in his career there will be other mistakes but he has strength and quality and in front of him is a very good career.”
Spurs goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky receives support after Atletico Madrid error
Tudor clearly is a fan of the young shot-stopper, as rumours even before the Atletico clash had surfaced that the Croat was considering giving him a chance over Guglielmo Vicario.
But it remains to be seen when Kinsky will start in goal again. This weekend’s fixture against Liverpool, right after his howler on Tuesday, would feel a little foolish for all involved.
The Spurs number two has spoken since the incident, sending a message of gratitude to those who messaged him.
Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois sent a message publicly to Kinsky, while David de Gea did similarly, urging the Tottenham goalkeeper not to let his head drop.
