Arne Slot accuses ‘reckless’ Tottenham star of action that risks injury 10/10 times

Arne Slot has condemned the tackle made by Tottenham’s Micky Van de Ven in the harshest of terms after details of Alexander Isak’s injury came to light.

Thomas Frank was extremely critical of the referee for getting all of his big decisions wrong during Tottenham’s loss to Liverpool.

The Spurs head coach suggested that neither Xavi Simons nor Cristian Romero deserved a red card, while he was in disbelief that Hugo Etikite’s push on Romero had not been spotted during Liverpool’s second goal.

However, there has been plenty of discussion about another controversial incident, which was missed by the referee.

Arne Slot did not like what Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven did

Van de Ven caught Alexander Isak as he slid into to block the Swede’s shot for Liverpool’s opener on 56 minutes.

The former Newcastle United man went off injured, and it has now been confirmed that he faces a few months on the sidelines after suffering a fractured leg (Sky Sports).

Slot was sympathetic to Xavi’s challenge on Virgil van Dijk, which earned him a red card, but he accused Van de Ven of being reckless.

The Liverpool boss said (via The Guardian): “It was a reckless challenge. I’ve said a lot about the tackle of Xavi Simons, which, for me, was completely unintentional.

“I don’t think you will ever get an injury out of a tackle like that. But the tackle of Van de Ven, if you make a tackle like that 10 times, 10 times there is a serious chance the player gets a serious injury.”

Pundit calls for Van de Ven to be retrospectively punished

A former Chelsea defender has agreed with Slot’s assessment of the Tottenham defender’s challenge against Isak.

Frank Lebouf has called on the FA to retrospectively punish Van de Ven for his tackle, insisting that the 24-year-old cannot be allowed to get away scot free.

Lebouf claimed that Van de Ven was not in control as he went flying into block Isak’s shot.
