Arne Slot has called up two more academy players to train with Liverpool’s senior squad this week ahead of the weekend’s trip to Nottingham Forest.
The Reds are back in Premier League action on Sunday after booking their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup last weekend, and they’ll be aiming to boost their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League as Slot looks for a first win against Forest at the fourth attempt.
The Liverpool boss isn’t helped though by an injury situation that hasn’t improved this week, with Slot calling upon two more academy players to help his side out during training.
According to This Is Anfield, Josh Davidson and Terence Miles were called up to train with the first-team on Wedensday.
Both will have helped to bolster the defensive options during the session as Liverpool continues to run low in that department, with Conor Bradley, Jeremie Frimpong, Giovanni Leoni and Wataru Endo all out injured.
Davidson, 20, is a right-back who has been with the club since the age of six, and signed his first professional contract in October 2022. Meanwhile, Miles, 21, plays in the same position but can also double up as a center-back.
Neither are expected to make the bench against Forest this weekend, with the pair utilized in training in order to replicate in-game situations.
The pair joined fellow academy players Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni, who have become regular features in Slot’s senior squad, as well as Calvin Ramsay, who continues to offer support despite the Liverpool boss all but ruling out the prospect of him playing.
The inclusion of Davidson and Miles comes as Slot has confirmed Frimpong will not be able to return against Forest this weekend. The Dutch international has been out since picking up a thigh injury during the opening stages of the Champions League clash with Qarabag.

The 25-year-old could return against West Ham the following weekend though, which would offthe Reds another much-needed option at right-back.
Elsewhere, Slot has confirmed Joe Gomez will be ready to start if required, having made his comeback from injury recently, while striker Alexander Isak could return toward the end of March or beginning of April, as long as there are no setbacks in his recovery.
Isak has been seen at the AXA Training Centre recently kicking a ball for the first time since breaking his leg against Tottenham in December, with the 26-year-old expected to make a return in some form before the end of the season.
