Jeremie Frimpong is set to be available for selection as Liverpool travels to Manchester City in the FA Cup this weekend, while Alexander Isak is very close to a return.

Arne Slot has revealed that Isak will be an option from the bench very soon, while the issue that Frimpong sustained while playing for the Netherlands on Tuesday, when he limped off 12 minutes after coming off the bench, has proven not to be serious. He was back in training on Thursday having undergone a scan.

Elsewhere, Conor Bradley, Wataru Endo and Giovanni Leoni are all still missing, though reports in Italy this week suggested that the latter is making good progress in his recovery.

Alisson Becker is not back yet either, with Giorgi Mamardashvili primed to deputize. He was also in goal the last time Liverpool played at Manchester City in a 3-0 league defeat in November.

Mohamed Salah and Federico Chiesa both rejoined team training after missing out on playing for their countries in the last couple of weeks and are fit enough to be involved.

Midfielder Alexis Mac Allister wasn't pictured on Thursday but he had not long returned from playing for Argentina. He assisted Lionel Messi in a 5-0 win over Zambia in Buenos Aires.

This week, Liverpool has Manchester City first before matches with PSG and Fulham. It could be defining period in how the rest of the campaign pans out for Slot.

"All beautiful fixtures to be part of," the Liverpool boss said earlier in the week. "I think this is why you play football. It's to be part of these games because everybody's talking about them.

"When I wasn't working here, I was always looking forward to Liverpool against Man City or Man City against Liverpool.

"And PSG, for the last five, six, seven, eight, nine or 10 years, they've become a big force in Europe. So, playing them now is also nice.

"Then, of course, the big derby against Everton is nice and in between [we have] Fulham — a very important game as well.

"Unfortunately, we play Paris Saint-Germain first on Wednesday, then secondly on Tuesday. That means three games in seven days.

"But that is part of the end-phase of the season. Most of our players did play in the international break, but not all of them played twice for 90 minutes. I expect them to be ready for the program we are going to face."
