Arne Slot has confirmed that Jeremie Frimpong is still sidelined with an injury ahead of Liverpool taking on Nottingham Forest in the Premier League this weekend.
"We hope he will be involved next week," Slot said. The Reds are set to be without five players for the clash at the City Ground, with Alexander Isak, Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni and now Wataru Endo all long-term absentees.
"Wata [Endo] will be out for a long time," Slot confirmed. "Alex [Isak] has been on the pitch with his running shoes this week for the first time. But that will still take a while."
With Bradley and Frimpong both absent, Curtis Jones could play right-back again, as he did successfully against Brighton in the FA Cup.
Alternatively, though, Joe Gomez, who trained on Wednesday and has come off the bench in the last two games, should be ready to start, Slot said.
Gomez would be the most natural fit but Slot was impressed by Jones in that position when he was deployed there ahead of Dominik Szoboszlai last Saturday.
"Curtis is a very good player — I've said this many times also to him and he agrees with me, by the way!" Slot said.
"But unfortunately for him, he's playing in a line where I have many good players and also [they are] available. So if he would be playing in another position, he would have played much, much more.
"But that's the only line — touch wood — where we haven't had our problems this season. Then you sometimes need him or other players in different positions, and so many times they've done well.

"Dominik has played so many different positions, Ryan [Gravenberch] played center-back and now tonight Curtis had to play as a full-back, and he did really well.
"It was very pleasing to see that the first goal was an assist from the left full-back to the right full-back — that probably tells you a lot about the intentions these players have when they step on the pitch."
