Liverpool has won fewer than 30 per cent of its last 17 Premier League games, and a damning statistic from Roy Hodgson's time in charge has emerged

Despite being on a 12-game unbeaten run in all competitions, discontent among Liverpool's supporters at the team's current plight has only grown in 2026.
Of those 12 games, six have ended in draws – including four of the last five – and the team currently finds itself 14 points off the top of the Premier League table, and without a top-flight win since the turn of the year.
After starting the season with five successive wins in the league, Liverpool's following 17 league games have only yielded a further five victories, with the team collecting points at an average rate of 1.24 per game over that period.
Following Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Burnley over the weekend, some social media statisticians pointed out that Roy Hodgson averaged 1.25 points per game across his 20 Premier League games in charge in the 2010-11 season.

However, that credit has run out with a lot of Liverpool supporters, many of whom would like to see a managerial change take place at Anfield.
That is unlikely, though, with The Athletic reporting over the weekend that Slot retains the faith of the club – for now, at least.
That could change if Liverpool fails to qualify for next season's Champions League – something which is described as a "minimum requirement" for Slot for the remainder of the season.
The sacking of Xabi Alonso by Real Madrid has added an extra dimension to Liverpool's managerial situation, with the former Reds midfielder likely to be favored by the majority supporters, should the club opt to make a change in the dugout.
However, it has been suggested that the former Spain midfielder could be on his way back to the Bundesliga later this year.

Alonso left Bayer Leverkusen to take the Madrid job in 2025, but Bayern Munich could be on the lookout for a new boss in the offseason, with ESPN's Mark Ogden suggesting that Vincent Kompany could be heading back to Manchester City.
Discussing the managerial situation at Manchester United, Ogden said: “I just want to kind of drop something that I was told last week.
“So when the whole Man United situation was going off, and I was speaking to somebody talking about United and just a kind of a cheeky little, ‘why not consider Xabi Alonso?’
"And obviously, I know the answer is that he played for Liverpool, et cetera. But he was like, 'No, no, no, that’s not going to happen.'
“He said, and the story that this guy had been told, and he has a bit of insight was that they said, no, Xabi Alonso will end up at Bayern Munich this summer, and Vincent Kompany will go to Man City because Man City wants Vincent Kompany back, and Xabi Alonso is an obvious fit for Bayern Munich.
"Because as much of a legend as he is at Liverpool, he’s also a great at Bayern Munich.”
