Nottingham Forest is reportedly still in the running to snatch Celtic's young talent Dara Jikiemi from under Liverpool's nose.
Last week, reports suggested that Jikiemi was on the brink of securing a dream move to Anfield.
However, according to Sports247 in Nigeria, no deal has been finalised, giving Forest a glimmer of hope that they could still secure his signature. It comes after Mohamed Salah's perfect response to his explosive Liverpool interview after Arne Slot's outburst.
The Scottish international was reportedly given leave from national youth duty to facilitate his move to Liverpool, with terms believed to have been agreed between both parties.
Despite his young age, Jikiemi has shown maturity and leadership, having captained Scotland's Under-15s side, reports Nottinghamshire Live.
Should the youngster depart, Celtic would receive training compensation as he is a product of their academy.
Jikieme turns 16 in January, and Liverpool is keen to bring the defender into their academy teams for the remainder of the season.
Forest has demonstrated their willingness to invest in promising talent for the future, with Jikiemi considered one of the top defenders in his age group in the country.
Meanwhile, speculations around Salah's future persist. However, it doesn't appear that a Saudi Arabia movie is possible in the winter transfer window.
"Can also reveal if Saudi clubs are to make an approach, no new funding for January will be provided by the Player Acquisition Centre of Excellence (PACE)," Ben Jacobs wrote on X/Twitter in regard to Salah before Liverpool's 2-0 win over Brighton.
"The seasonal budget is already allocated, and Saudi clubs, for Salah or any other star in January, must find a means to fund a transfer without relying on new central funding."
