Arne Slot has given an update on Alexander Isak's condition after the striker was forced out of the 2-1 victory against Tottenham.

Liverpool picked up an important win at Tottenham on Saturday to move up to fifth in the Premier League table. Isak opened the scoring just before the hour mark, before Hugo Ekitike doubled Liverpool's lead 10 minutes later. Richarlison pulled a goal back late on.

Yet that only tells half of the story. Two Tottenham players, Xavi Simons and Cristian Romero, were sent off, but the biggest talking point was Isak's injury. The player appeared to injure his knee while shooting, thanks to Micky van de Ven's late sliding challenge.

While Isak found the back of the net with his strike, he was also forced out of the game as a result of Van de Ven's desperate attempt to stop the goal. Liverpool fans are now worried that Isak has damaged his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

If that's the case, Isak will miss the rest of the Premier League season. The Swedish striker may also miss another preseason, having not played for Newcastle during the summer before his transfer to Liverpool.

"We'll have to wait and see," Slot told the BBC when asked about Isak's injury, not showing much confidence. "It is too short after the game to speak about it, but it is never good when a player has to come off."

Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley were also taken off during Saturday's game. On those two players, Slot added: "I took Frimpong off because I did not want to be with 10 men, so that injury is fine.

"The other two (Isak and Bradley), we'll have to wait and see. The good thing is that we have a week to go, so hopefully we have enough players available to play next week again."

The Reds have now won three consecutive games in all competitions. Slot said: "Three points away at Spurs is very nice.

"It is a difficult stadium to go to, a good team to play against. Of course, they lost last week, so today they wanted to make it up in front of their fans.

"For us, the aim was to win again because we need wins to let the league table look better for us, and eventually that's what we did."

Slot was asked whether he was concerned about his players conceding another late equalizer, just like they did in the 3-3 draw against Leeds. He replied: "It was 11 vs 11 there, but we had nine minutes added again there.

"I think here that was completely fine with the injury treatments, VAR, so I can't complain at all about he nine minutes. They were close. They came close a few times.

"It's unbelievable if you play against nine men that I would not be surprised if for the nine minutes they had the ball for eight-and-a-half. That is not what you expect, and maybe that tells you where we are in this season.

"We need a few more wins to get a bit more comfortable with setbacks. The thing that keeps in your mind is the last 10 minutes, but there was a lot more to like in the first 80-90 minutes."
