Arne Slot implied Ibrahima Konate will not be involved in Liverpool's trip to Bournemouth this weekend.
Konate missed the midweek win Marseille due to the tragic passing of his father, Hamady. The Liverpool defender confirmed the news on Thursday, the day after the 3-0 Champions League victory.
While Slot did not confirm Konate's availability, he hinted that the Frenchman will not play on Saturday, which comes a day after the funeral.
"I spoke to him a few times and I think these are private matter and they should stay between us. I think he needs to be there with his family," said the Liverpool head coach.
Without Konate, Joe Gomez is expected to start once again at center-back alongside Virgil van Dijk at the heart of defense.
"I saw a lot of individual performances tonight, but I would like to single out Joe Gomez," Slot said on Gomez's midweek display in Marseille.
Liverpool will also be without Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni and Alexander Isak, all of whom are dealing with long-term injuries.
The Reds head to the Vitality in fourth place in the table but have drawn their last four matches. Bournemouth, sitting 15th, is nine points behind Liverpool.
