Arne Slot issues Liverpool injury update on Ryan Gravenberch and Alexander Isak ahead of Aston Villa

Arne Slot has given a injury update on his Liverpool squad ahead of Saturday's Premier League encounter against Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Reds head into the game on a run of six defeats in seven, culminating in the 3-0 midweek loss against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup. Liverpool is also in desperate need of a victory in the Premier League following four straight losses which have seen Arsenal establish a 10-point gap the top of the table.

But there is some good news ahead of the match, with Slot stating Ryan Gravenberch is line to return against Villa.

The midfielder has missed the last three matches, and Slot said after the Palace game that he expects the ex-Bayern Munich man to be available for Saturday's game.

He reiterated that message on Friday, and was also asked for an update on Alexander Isak and Curtis Jones.

"Ryan trained with us yesterday and the other two didn’t yet," said Slot.

"As I said many times, in the phase of injuries, things can slow down or go faster.

"Let’s see where we are. Ryan trained with us today, let’s see if he trains with us today. The other are 99.9 percent not in the squad."

Isak hasn't played since coming off at half-time in last week's win over Eintracht Frankfurt, while Jones was replaced in the second half of Liverpool's loss at Brentford on Saturday.

Alisson, Giovanni Leoni and Jeremie Frimpong are still injured and will miss Saturday's game.

As for Villa, Andres Garcia, Youri Tielemans and Emiliano Buendia are injury doubts. Harvey Elliott is ineligible to face his parent club.
