Liverpool could be without Alexander Isak against Brighton this weekend after he picked up a knock during the Champions League win over Inter Milan.
But Reds boss Arne Slot is looking forward to being able to field Hugo Ekitike alongside the Swede again in the future as they look to build their chemistry in the final third.
So far, the two new arrivals have tended to vie for the same role in the Liverpool team, but with a diamond formation used midweek, Isak and Ekitike were partners. Even though it hasn't clicked yet, on paper at least, there is potential.
"What we all saw, which is normal, is the more they play, the more they will adapt and the better they will cooperate," Slot said during his pre-Brighton press conference.
"The other two nines on the pitch for Inter were more used to playing with each other. It's the second time they have played together and I think we will see more of this in the future.
"Alex got a knock in the first half, so let's see if he is able to start tomorrow."
If Isak is unable to start, that could be the ideal chance to bring Florian Wirtz into the starting XI.
He could come in and play a free role alongside Ekitike, leaving the solid midfield four of Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones intact.
Mohamed Salah could also be an option again, with Slot set to hold showdown talks with the Egyptian today to determine what the best course of action is for his reintegration.
"I will have a conversation with Mo this morning," Slot said. "What I need is a conversation with him and the next time I speak about Mo should be with him and not in here.

"There's not much more I can say. I speak to him today and the outcome determines how things will look tomorrow.
"You can try in multiple ways but I just said the next time I speak about him should be with him. I think there's been a lot of conversations in the last week between his representatives and ours."
Liverpool.com says: In time, the hope has to be that Isak can look much sharper than he does at the moment. Only then will we be able to work out if playing him and Ekitike together is the right move to make.
For now, Isak isn't fit enough to make a proper judgment, and he looks a long way off that being possible, in truth.
