Arne Slot makes Luis Diaz admission and explains Darwin Nunez absence vs AC Milan

Liverpool boss Arne Slot says Luis Diaz was left out of the Reds' friendly against AC Milan because of speculation surrounding his future. The Reds are currently in dialogue with Bayern Munich about a potential transfer for the Colombian.

Uruguayan forward Darwin Nunez, however, was injured, which explains his absence. He has also been linked with a move away with clubs in Saudi Arabia having been keen on the former Benfica star after Napoli walked away from a potential deal.

"That's the plan," Slot told LFCTV when he was asked if Alexis Mac Allister could soon rejoin the group after an injury. "He hasn't trained with the team yet but the plan is to train part of the session on Monday or Tuesday. I'm not sure if he can play minutes in the game [on Wednesday] already."

Liverpool lost 4-2 to AC Milan with Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo both getting on the scoresheet. The Reds conceded too many big chances, however, with Joe Gomez missing through injury to leave just two fit senior center-backs at the club.

"I don’t think we have a concern at center-back (looking at Virgil van Dijk)," Slot said during a press conference. "Ryan [Gravenberch] showed he can play that position.

"He did it as well, although we favor him as a No.6. Wataru Endo can also play there. So we have enough options, but it is true that Jarell Quansah left and we haven’t replaced him yet."
