Liverpool's Premier League title defence is set to continue this coming weekend.
The Reds are preparing for a clash with Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday, aiming to maintain their perfect start to the season into the fourth gameweek. So far this season, Arne Slot and his team have had to fight until the final whistle in each of their three victories against Bournemouth, Newcastle, and Arsenal.
They'll be hoping for a smoother ride when they take on the Clarets this Sunday, seeking a more relaxed game for the current champions. By the time the match against Burnley arrives, Slot will have had two weeks to prepare.
This preparation period will involve making crucial decisions about the squad selection for the journey to Turf Moor.
The Reds must also keep in mind their upcoming Champions League encounter with Atletico Madrid, which will require the availability of their first-choice team.
Once all players return from international duty, some significant choices will need to be made.
One such decision involves determining how much game time to allocate to Alexander Isak, following his deadline day transfer from Newcastle.
Isak hasn't yet played any club football this season or had any preseason action, but Liverpool will be eager for its record-breaking signing to be ready to start as soon as possible.
This, in turn, will necessitate a decision regarding the forward line. If Isak is fit to start, either Cody Gakpo or Hugo Ekitike will need to be relegated to the bench, presenting Slot with a dilemma ahead of the weekend.
In defence, Slot also faces a choice on who to field at right-back. Dominik Szoboszlai has certainly shone in this position in the last two matches, but Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong could both be fit and ready to start against Burnley.
If Szoboszlai isn't chosen for the right-back role, Slot may still want to utilize the Hungarian international in his preferred midfield position.
This would likely compel Slot to choose a midfield duo from Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones, and Wataru Endo.
Florian Wirtz is expected to maintain his No. 10 role moving forward.
Liverpool's dream line-up vs Burnley (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Milos Kerkez; Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai; Mohamed Salah, Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike; Alexander Isak.
