Arne Slot has suggested Liverpool will look to replace Luis Diaz this summer - although it might not be with another left-winger.
Diaz completed his move to Bayern Munich on Wednesday, with the Colombian signing a four-year deal in Germany after making the $87 million switch from Anfield, having spent the last three-and-a-half years at Liverpool.
His departure leaves the Reds a little short on options in the frontline, especially if Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez also end up moving on this summer. Liverpool doesn’t look to be done in the transfer market though, and one huge signing may still be in the pipeline.
Hopes have been raised that a deal for Alexander Isak may still be possible, with the striker now training alone at former club Real Sociedad after telling Newcastle he wants to leave.
Recent reports have claimed that Liverpool has already agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old, who would almost certainly break the Reds’ transfer record for the second time this summer, as well as the Premier League record.
Liverpool is in a good position, though, should Newcastle be willing to sell, with the Magpies already showing one or two signs of its stance softening, and Slot left his club’s ambitions in no uncertain terms as he discussed the remaining transfer plans this summer.
Asked by The Athletic whether a replacement for Diaz would be sought, Slot responded: "I think if players leave, whether that’s Trent (Alexander-Arnold) or Lucho, then you always need to replace them with quality.
"But sometimes quality can be in different positions. We have more than a few players who can play in a number of positions.
"At this moment in time, we still have Cody Gakpo, Rio (Ngumoha) is showing very good signs, and I think Florian Wirtz can play from the left side as well. There are enough options for me to choose from.

"But as I always say, another thing about Liverpool is that if we see a chance in the market, we never hesitate to bring someone in. In the end, it’s about quality, and we have already made some very good signings.
"In terms of quality, we are already in the right place."
Liverpool.com says: Those are certainly interesting comments from Slot, and they certainly don’t leave much doubt about whether Liverpool will make any more signings this summer, even after already going big.
And his comments on replacing Diaz in particular will no doubt lead to more speculation about Isak. Liverpool is probably okay for left-wingers, so which position could he be referring to other than No.9 for strengthening?
