Clubs competing in the knockout stages of the Champions League have now submitted their updated squads

Arsenal have added Max Dowman to their Champions League B List - even though he's not yet visible in their updated squad on the UEFA website.

Clubs competing in the knockout stages of the competition have now submitted their updated squads and they were able to register a maximum of three new players on their A List.

Dowman was replaced by Gabriel Jesus on the A List ahead of the 3-0 win at Club Brugge in December after he suffered an ankle injury during a behind-closed-doors friendly against Manchester United.

Per UEFA rules, clubs could make one change to their Champions League squad ahead of matchday six, providing a player already on the A List was set to be sidelined for at least 60 days through injury.

From yesterday (February 6), Dowman is now free to play in UEFA competition again and it was always the plan - Arsenal confirmed this in a statement back in December when the initial change was made - to add the highly-rated 16-year-old to their B List in January.

Clubs can register an unlimited number of B List players but each player in question must be registered at least 24 hours before the match in question.

Dowman is now on the comeback trail following his ankle injury and Mikel Arteta confirmed on Friday that he's now just a matter of weeks away from returning to fitness.

Last month, the talented teenager penned a pre-contract agreement that will see him sign his first professional contract in December once he turns 17.

Arteta detailed his excitement in light of the announcement: "It’s a proud moment to see him yesterday signing that deal in front of his family and his loved ones.

"Big credit to everybody that’s been involved in that journey with him, to bring him all the way to the first team and especially the manner that they’ve done it. Now we have an amazing talent that, day-by-day, I think we need to shape because there’s so much there."

Dowman made his Premier League debut in Arsenal's 5-0 win over Leeds in August and also became the youngest player in Champions League history when he featured in the Gunners' 3-0 group phase win at Slavia Prague in November.
