Arsenal agree fourth summer transfer deal as major Rodrygo update emerges

7 hours ago 42

Arsenal have so far completed three summer signings but a fourth is 'imminent' following a late update on Noni Madueke.

On Thursday evening, Fabrizio Romano reported that a fee in 'excess' of £50million has been agreed for the winger to join from Chelsea. The 23-year-old had already agreed a five-year deal with Arsenal a few days ago.

Madueke joins Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, and Christian Norgaard. Up next will be striking a deal for a new striker, which remains one of the priorities between now and September 1.

However, securing a deal for Viktor Gyokeres has so far proven difficult.

The next few days could be important for any outcome.

Here, football.london has taken a look at latest transfer headlines from in and around the Emirates Stadium.

Madueke deal 'agreed'

football.london says: It's good to see Arsenal being active this summer in the fight for the Premier League next season. Despite being limited to regular game time at Stamford Bridge, at 22, Madueke still has a high ceiling and room to grow under Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal’s project has been centred around developing young, high-upside player and Madueke fits that mould - someone who can go on to reach his full potential. Not to mention that competing in the Champions League, squad depth will be essential.

Rodrygo update

According to Fabrizio Romano, Rodrygo's future will be discussed in a meeting next week. Real Madrid are reportedly 'open' to letting him leave, but the final decision will rest with the player.

Despite interest from Al Nassr, the Brazilian is not believed to be keen on a move to the Middle East, with his full focus remaining on continuing his career in Europe.

football.london says: This presents a potential boost for Arsenal, especially if Real are really open to letting him leave. Given his limited game time under Xabi Alonso, there's a chance for him to play a key role at the Emirates.

The claim about him wanting to continue playing in Europe is another boost for Arsenal. With the club firmly established in the Champions League and continuing to build a competitive, young core, Arsenal can offer both the elite level football and the long-term project that might be attractive to the Brazilian.

Fabio Vieira 'enquiry'

According to The Mirror, Parma have made an enquiry about signing Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira. The Serie A side are now led by Carlos Cuesta, who spent five years as Mikel Arteta's assistant before beginning his managerial career in Italy.

Vieira, 25, was out of the picture at Arsenal last season, having spent the entire campaign on loan at FC Porto.

football.london says: It's clear Vieira's time in north London has not gone the way the club or player would have wanted it to. With the new season on the horizon, it's difficult to see Vieira getting regular game time, and ultimately it will be better for Arsenal to try and recoup some of the money spent on him.

After a loan season at Porto, where he was given more playing time, he has attracted the interest of some clubs - it could be a now-or-never moment to get some funds back.
