Arsenal moved two points clear at the top of the Premier League after a 2-1 win over Wolves, with a supercomputer predicting how the table will look come season's end

Arsenal will clinch the Premier League title four points ahead of Manchester City by the end of the season, if the latest supercomputer prediction is accurate.
Mikel Arteta's Gunners secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Wolves at the weekend, a match that was rife with late drama. Sam Johnstone inadvertently gave Arsenal the lead by scoring an own goal after 70 minutes, only for Tolu Arokodare to level the score for the visitors in the 90th minute.
Rob Edwards seemed poised to earn a point from his team's efforts at the Emirates Stadium, but the game had a different outcome in store. In the final moments of the match, Yerson Mosquera also netted an own goal, leaving Wolves to make the long journey back to the Midlands without any points.
Following their win and Manchester City's 3-0 demolition of Crystal Palace on Sunday, Arsenal now sit just two points above Pep Guardiola's Cityzens at the top of the Premier League table. However, if the predictions made by Aceodds' supercomputer, BETSiE, prove correct, that gap will slightly increase by the end of the current campaign.
According to the data-driven software, Arsenal will conclude their season with 81 points, and have been given a 67.7% chance of winning the league. If the prediction holds true, it would mean Arsenal clinching their first league title in over two decades - their last being Arsene Wenger's remarkable 2003/04 'Invincibles' campaign.
BETSiE also forecasts that City will accumulate 77 points (76.7 rounded up) this season, with their chances of winning the league standing at a mere 28.5%. This could be a bitter pill for Guardiola to swallow if accurate, given his high standards and impressive record of six top-flight titles, nine domestic cups, and a Champions League during his nine-year tenure so far, reports the Mirror.
Despite a mixed bag of results this term following a summer of spending, reigning champions Liverpool are predicted by BETSiE to finish third in the league by the end of the season, with a total of 67 points (67.3 rounded down). It's a stark contrast to Arne Slot's current position, with his team sitting seventh in the table due to eight wins, two draws, and six losses.
Ruben Amorim's Manchester United, on the other hand, are projected to miss out on automatic Champions League qualification for the 2026/27 season if the software's predictions are accurate.
BETSiE currently places the Red Devils fifth in the Premier League, a point ahead of a soaring Aston Villa; a complete turnaround from last season's disappointing 15th place finish.
Here's how the supercomputer BETSiE predicts the Premier League table will look at the end of the season, based on the most recent round of results:
- Arsenal (81 points)
- Manchester City (77 points)
- Liverpool (67 points)
- Chelsea (66 points)
- Manchester United (62 points)
- Aston Villa
- Crystal Palace
- Brighton and Hove Albion
- Newcastle United
- Tottenham Hotspur
- AFC Bournemouth
- Everton
- Brentford
- Sunderland AFC
- Nottingham Forest
- Fulham
- Leeds United
- West Ham United
- Burnley
- Wolverhampton Wanderers
To arrive at these predictions, BETSiE simulated the league seasons 100,000 times. The supercomputer takes into account all match results from this pre-season and the current season, projecting the season based on both pre-season expectations, fixture difficulty and xG earned both for and against during the season.
It now also incorporates team financial data and player values from Transfermarkt. This additional layer of data provides a more nuanced understanding of team capabilities and potential performance variations.
