Arsenal could add £53m superstar to Mikel Arteta's squad after major hint

Arsenal's plans for the summer transfer window will be nearly completed with one month to go until deadline day.

The Gunners have made six signings so far this summer and could be in the market for more new additions before the September 1 deadline.

Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga have all moved to the Emirates Stadium this summer, and there is the potential for more new additions to come in the weeks ahead.

Arsenal have been linked with several possible new additions after adding Gyokeres to their squad, including AC Milan star Rafael Leao. There have been reports that the Portugal international may be a target for the Gunners, although they appear to be tentative at this point.

The CIES Football Observatory currently puts a valuation of up to €61million (£53million) on Leao in today's market. The likelihood is, though, that Milan would demand a higher fee if Arsenal or any other club were to express an interest in getting a deal over the line this summer.

It was just last month that Arsenal went up against Leao when they faced Milan in a pre-season friendly. The Gunners won the fixture 1-0 in Singapore thanks to a goal from Bukayo Saka.

From Milan's perspective, they offered a potential hint of their desire to keep Leao at the club amid rumours of a possible departure. The Serie A giants handed Leao the captain's armband, with club captain Mike Maignan not featuring in the fixture.

While handing Leao the captaincy for a friendly fixture is not confirmation of a transfer stance one way or another, it does offer a hint that Milan are determined to keep the forward at the San Siro beyond this summer, at the very least.
