There are three Manchester City players who make the top 10 highest tax contributors in the Premier League, with just three from London clubs

Arsenal are six points clear at the top of the Premier League table and will look to continue their charge when they take on Sunderland at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta has created a seemingly unstoppable team, and at the heart of their title charge are the likes of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus. The Athletic has revealed that the Arsenal duo are paying huge amounts of tax off the field and are among the top 10 highest-paid in the division.

Erling Haaland tops the list with almost £17million paid in tax, while Liverpool's Mohamed Salah is in second place with £14.5m contributed.

Jesus and Havertz occupy ninth and tenth place respectively, with the pair contributing £15.7m in total in tax. Jesus pays a little more at £7.9m while Havertz pays around £100,000 less.

A surprising name on the list is England international Raheem Sterling, who was earning £325,000 per week at Chelsea. It was revealed last week that the former Liverpool star had terminated his contract with the Blues by mutual agreement.

Havertz, who scored the winning goal for Chelsea in the 2021 Champions League final, was introduced as a late substitute against his old club in the Carabao Cup earlier this week and ended up scoring a 97th-minute winner.

Arteta said after the match: "Super. I think not only me. I think everybody who knows Kai a little bit feels genuinely happy for him in a special way, because he deserves the best.

"The way he works, the way he treats people, the way he behaves every single day. And today was a special moment for him. And I hope that he enjoyed it, because he fully deserves that."

Jesus has been at Arsenal for more than four years since signing from Manchester City, and earns £265,000 per week, which is why he pays so much tax.

Jesus has played a role of his own in Arsenal's recent success. Despite the introduction of Viktor Gyokeres, the striker remains an important cog in Arteta's machine.

For example, in last week's match against Leeds United, Jesus slotted the fourth and decisive goal to put the definitive stamp on the game.

He had started as a substitute but wasted no time in making an impact once he took to the field. It also extended a wild record, too. In the 64 Premier League matches he has scored in, he has never suffered defeat.
