Here’s everything you need to know about drinking rules for Arsenal and Man City fans before the Carabao Cup final:
- Why Wembley keeps fans apart: Wembley Stadium designates specific pubs for each set of finalists to minimize the risk of physical confrontations between rival fan bases in the surrounding streets. This geographical split allows authorities to manage the high volume of supporters effectively by keeping opposing groups on opposite sides of the stadium campus.
- The Arsenal zone: Supporters of the North London club have been allocated the East side of the stadium and its corresponding local businesses. Designated venues for the Gunners include popular spots like Boxpark, The Torch, the Crock of Gold, the Blue Check, Wembley Tavern, Stadium Sports Bar, Black Sheep (Olympic Way) and Feed the Yak, all of which will cater exclusively to those in the East end.
- The Manchester City zone: City fans will occupy the West side of the stadium, which is the traditional "away" end for many major domestic cup fixtures. The Green Man one of the most recognisable options for West-allocated fans, while City supporters can also go to Crystals, The Arch, Station 31, The Robin, JJ Moons, The Corner House, Black Sheep (White Horse Square), Sixty Six Bar & Grill, La Regina and The White Horse.
- The Boxpark location: The popular fan hub Boxpark Wembley is located at 18 Olympic Way, Wembley Park, HA9 0JT. Fans hoping to gather there before the match should be aware they need a Boxpark ticket as well as their match ticket, while entry after the game will be first come, first served.
- The Green Man details: A staple for West-allocated fans, The Green Man is situated at Dagmar Avenue, Wembley, HA9 8DF. It is known for its large beer garden but frequently reaches maximum capacity several hours before the 4:30 pm kick-off.
- The entry requirements: Most allocated pubs and official fan zones operate a strict "no ticket, no entry" policy to help prevent overcrowding. You must present a valid match ticket or a digital booking for the specific venue to gain access to the premises on matchday.
- Street drinking not allowed: A Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) is strictly enforced across the Wembley estate, making it illegal to consume alcohol on the streets or in public squares. Enforcement officers have the authority to confiscate alcohol and issue immediate £100 fines to anyone caught drinking outside of licensed premises.
- Drinking inside the stadium: Inside Wembley Stadium, alcohol is available for purchase at the concourse bars but is strictly prohibited from being taken into the seating bowl. You must finish your drink within the concourse area, as it is a criminal offense to consume alcohol within sight of the pitch during a football match.
