The latest North London Derby news as Tottenham Hotspurs takes a dig at local rivals Arsenal ahead of their clash this afternoon

Arsenal fans have been reacting to Tottenham Hotspur's social media trolling ahead of the North London Derby this afternoon.

Spurs uploaded a behind-the-scenes training video on X ahead of their clash with Mikel Arteta's Gunners. And in the spirit of football rivalry, Tottenham couldn't help but take a dig at their north London rivals.

The video is just over three minutes long, but the first five seconds are spent showing off Tottenham's Europa League trophy. They beat Manchester United in last season’s final under Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs poked fun at the fact Arsenal have never won any of UEFA's current three competitions - the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.

The Gunners have won two European trophies during their long history. These are the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1994 and the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1970. Neither of those competitions exist anymore.

Tottenham's attempt to troll Arsenal supporters looks to have worked, with a host of Gooners fighting back in the comments.

One fan said: "Showcasing a Europa League. You won it because you couldn't play in the Champions League," with another adding: "It is widely recognised that the Europa League trophy is often associated with teams that did not qualify for the Champions League."

A third Arsenal fan hit back with: "Flexing a Europa trophy like it's going to help you on the pitch," as a fourth commented: "Keep showing that irrelevant cup. You are not leaving with a point."

As much as there were Arsenal fans firing back at their rivals, there were also plenty of Tottenham fans soaking in the occasion.

One praised the X account admin, saying they "are on a roll", with another subtly applauding the trophy nod: "I saw what you did there."

A third Spurs supporter laughed at the clip and stated: "The trophy was unnecessary but we love it," while a fourth poked fun at Arteta's side by saying: "First things first. They showed Arsenal what a trophy looks like."

Although Spurs can clearly do the business online, the real question is whether they can do it on the pitch. They haven’t won at the Emirates since November 2010, a 3-2 victory.

A win for Tottenham could see Thomas Frank's side climb from eighth to fourth - five points behind Arteta's Arsenal. For the Gunners, victory would extend their lead at the top following Manchester City's defeat this weekend.

Tottenham are the only team unbeaten away from home this season. However, that record clashes with Arsenal's 14-match unbeaten run. This afternoon we’ll see who comes out on top.
