Gabriel Magalhaes handed Arsenal an injury scare after being substituted during Brazil's win over Senegal

Arsenal will be facing a nervous wait to discover the full extent of the injury to Gabriel Magalhaes.

The Gunners centre-back was in action for Brazil on Saturday afternoon in an international friendly with Senegal at the Emirates Stadium.

Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti named Gabriel in the starting line-up for the fixture in north London, but the Arsenal defender was withdrawn in the second half with a muscle injury.

Ancelotti confirmed after the game that Gabriel had an adductor issue, which led to the Gunners defender being substituted in the 64th minute, where he was assisted off the pitch by Brazil's medical staff.

"Bad? I don’t know, he [Gabriel] had a problem on his adductor the medical staff have to check tomorrow," Ancelotti said after Brazil's win over Senegal.

"We are really sorry for this, really disappointed, when players have an injury I hope they can recover well and soon.”

Arsenal now face a nervous wait to discover the full extent of the injury with the Premier League title race set to resume next week.

If Gabriel goes on to be sidelined for more than a week, the defender will miss Arsenal's clash against Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby on November 23.

Should the Brazilian be on the sidelines for two weeks, Arsenal can expect Gabriel to also be unavailable for the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich on November 26 as well as the trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the Premier League on November 30.

Arsenal will be hoping that Gabriel will not be sidelined for any longer than that, but if so, there are several more fixtures which the defender could miss if the injury is more serious.

A three-week recovery timeframe would then see Gabriel miss a Premier League double-header against Brentford and Aston Villa within the space of a week.

Four weeks on the sidelines would also see Gabriel be unavailable for a Champions League away trip to Club Brugge and a Premier League fixture against Wolves.

An even longer spell on the sidelines would then see Gabriel be in danger of missing the hectic festive period. Arsenal face Everton (December 20), Brighton (December 27) and Villa (December 30) before the turn of the year, as well as a Carabao Cup quarter-final against Crystal Palace just before Christmas.
