The games are coming thick and fast for Arsenal and, so, Mikel Arteta will be forced to utilise his title-chasing squad in every way possible throughout a hectic December.

On Wednesday evening, the Gunners welcome Brentford to the Emirates Stadium looking to return to winning ways after their frustrating draw at Chelsea last weekend. Tonight's game marks the first of eight matches in the final month of the year, as Arteta's men compete in three competitions.

Manchester City's thrilling 5-4 win over Fulham means Arsenal are now just two points clear at the top of the Premier League table. Victory over Brentford will resume their five-point advantage, but it will be no easy task.

Despite winning all-but one of their home games this season - and facing one of the worst away teams in the league - the Gunners come into Wednesday's game without a number of key players.

William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes both missed their 1-1 draw with Chelsea. The latter has now missed the last three games, while Saliba's exclusion from Stamford Bridge came as a surprise. His absence was due to a knock he sustained in training, but Arteta did not specify the issue.

On Tuesday, the Gunners boss said Saliba had a minor issue, but did not rule out the prospect of him featuring against Brentford. "He had a little niggle, so I think it's going to be a matter of days, so let's see if he's able to be there tomorrow," he said.

"The ankle one [earlier on in the season] was really random, and a very unlucky action that kept him out for a few weeks. He tried at Anfield, he wasn't comfortable and he had to stay away.

"This one as well, very bizarre, but hopefully it will be a matter of days." Gabriel is facing a period of "weeks" out of action, with Arteta confirming the Brazilian was "doing very well" in his recovery.

Brentford may come too soon for Leandro Trossard, who missed the Chelsea game after limping off with a muscle issue in the win over Bayern Munich. There was also no sign of Bukayo Saka in the club-released training images on Tuesday, either.

Here, football.london predicts the 20-man squad Arteta will name on Wednesday night;

Goalkeepers: David Raya, Kepa Arrizabalaga

Defenders: Jurrien Timber, Riccardo Calafiori, Cristhian Mosquera, Piero Hincapie, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ben White

Midfielders: Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi, Martin Odegaard, Eberechi Eze, Mikel Merino, Christian Norgaard, Ethan Nwaneri

Attackers: Bukayo Saka, Viktor Gyokeres, Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, Noni Madueke
