Arsenal get Eberechi Eze transfer update after Viktor Gyokeres swoop as contract decision made

2 days ago 55

Arsenal's summer transfer business have ramped up in recent weeks. Mikel Arteta's side are on course to complete their fourth signing of the window with Noni Madueke set to arrive in a £48million plus £4m deal from Chelsea.

Madueke, 23, is set to follow Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard through the Emirates Stadium doors, taking Arsenal's summer spending up to around £118m. However, that figure is about to rise even further, as the Gunners close in on a deal to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP.

Reports have suggested that Arsenal are set to pay an initial fee of £54.8m with £8.6m in add-ons to sign Gyokeres. football.london understands that talks have been reignited this weekend and the Gunners are now confident that a deal can be completed. The 27-year-old has agreed a five-year contract.

With this in mind, here is a look at the latest Arsenal transfer news and rumours...

Eze update

Eberechi Eze is a leading candidate to join Arsenal, according to Football Insider. It's added that the Gunners are moving closer to agreeing a deal with Crystal Palace for the England international.

Mikel Arteta's side are willing to meet Eze's release clause of £68million, but talks are ongoing regarding the structure of the payment. Arsenal are aiming to reduce the upfront settlement and pay the rest in instalments. Eze scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists in 43 matches last season.

FL says: There is no doubt that Eze would be an excellent addition for Arsenal. The 27-year-old is among the best creative attacking midfielders in the Premier League and he would strengthen the Gunners' squad. It does feel as though Arteta's side are missing someone of his calibre and talent right now.

Martin Odegaard is Arsenal's only recognised senior attacking midfielder, and while Ethan Nwaneri can play in that position, he is not experienced enough to start there on a regular basis. Therefore Eze could be the perfect recruit, as the Gunners look to add more quality and innovation to their ranks.

Nwaneri contract

According to BBC journalist Sami Mokbel, Arsenal will formally offer Ethan Nwaneri a new contract. The 18-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move to Chelsea this summer, having recently entered the final year of his deal at the Emirates Stadium.

The report claims that the Gunners will either offer Nwaneri a five-year contract or a four-year contract, which includes the option of a further 12 months. It's said there is growing hope that a deal can be reached, with negotiations reaching an advanced stage.

FL says: Getting Nwaneri tied down to a new contract could be as important as signing a new player. The teenager is that good - and I think he has the potential to become a world class operator in the future.

Nwaneri showed what he is all about in patches last season and he can go to the next level in 2025/26. It's so vital that Arsenal manage to tie him down to fresh terms, as there is no doubt going to be a lot of interest.
