Arsenal get huge transfer boost as Andrea Berta awaits crucial green light for £47m deal

16 hours ago 3

Arsenal look to be just one crucial step away from sanctioning another transfer with Andrea Berta set for a busy final few hours of the summer window.

Piero Hincapie is expected to become the Gunners' eighth new arrival after he said his goodbyes to Bayer Leverkusen following their 3-3 draw against Werder Bremen. However, he could yet return to Germany with Berta negotiating the deal to be a loan that includes an option-to-buy rather than obligation.

With Jakub Kiwior set to join Porto on a permanent basis next summer, barring an unfortunate set of circumstances, it does seem very likely that Arsenal will activate that option in 12 months time.

That £45million will therefore go on next years' financial books, but Arsenal could still do with permanent exits going through in the next two days to help offset their £250million spend. Reiss Nelson, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira are the main names that may be able to help with active interest in all three.

There is a long-term interest from Crystal Palace in Nelson with talks held earlier this week, football.london understands.

The 25-year-old looked set for a loan move to Fulham earlier in the window but focus at Craven Cottage shifted onto other targets such as Shakhtar Donetsk star Kevin and Samuel Chukwueze of AC Milan.

Zinchenko has been loosely linked to that Italian club and Borussia Dortmund but a switch to Marseille is the most likely exit scenario for him with the French club working on a permanent deal, as per the Athletic, though it was also noted his high salary makes that unlikely.

As such, it could be on Vieira to help raise funds and the likelihood of that has just increased again. Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart have been interested in the Portugal international for a number of weeks and having just sold Nick Wolmetade to Newcastle United, they should have the funds to sign him permanently if that is their wish.

However, West Ham United may be in a better position to bring him in having recently entered the race as they search for potential Lucas Paqueta replacements with it looking as though he will be joining Aston Villa.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, he is keen on the move with Unai Emery's side now closing in on a £47million package - which includes a loan fee, the obligatory purchase price and add-ons - for the Brazil international.

However, a full agreement has not been reached yet with Romano adding that the Hammers are yet to give the green light for the transfer to proceed as Graham Potter does not want the 28-year-old to leave.

Arsenal though, will likely be hoping it does go through as West Ham are then much more likely to try and bring in Vieira.
