Arsenal have been named among the clubs fighting over Morgan Rogers

Morgan Rogers reportedly hopes Aston Villa won't stand in his way over a summer transfer with Arsenal among those linked with a sensational switch.

It has been said that the England international would be leaving the Midlands club this summer for one of the Premier League's elite clubs. Reports suggest that the Gunners, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in the 23-year-old.

The Sun has claimed that despite penning a six-year contract in November, clubs have not been deterred and the ignition of speculation comes amid Rogers' aspirations to be apart of a trophy-winning side.

On the other hand, the outlet has reported that Villa bosses have an 'understanding' that this summer is probably the right time for the former Manchester City prospect to leave. Thomas Tuchel is an admirer of the playmaker with the expectation that the German will select him to be on the plane for the World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States this summer.

There is the suggestion that Villa remain under financial strain and Rogers is one of their most valuable players.

After a formidable run that led Unai Emery's side into the Champions League places and even considered title contenders alongside both Arsenal and City, they have since dropped off.

They have a five-point cushion over Liverpool in fifth after their win on the eve of the international break ended a run of four matches without a win.

If they fail to qualify for the Champions League, it has been suggested that it would be close to impossible to keep Rogers but he could still depart, if they return to Europe's top table.

In December, Emery lauded the midfielder for his return on the first half of the campaign. He said: "He's a fantastic guy.

"He loves football - his commitment with the club is fantastic, his attitude every day. He's a leader in the dressing room because he's always positive, he has energy, and then he has skills, of course.

"His versatility is very important and to be positive playing 10 numbers inside, 10 numbers outside, even like a winger, is very, very important for us.

"Through the mentality he's showing, he can get his best and adding numbers now - goals, assists."

Rogers has eight goals and five assists in 31 Premier League appearances so far this term, while reaching double figures in all competitions.

Last season, he netted 14 times and provided 13 assists for Villa during the campaign. Jack Grealish's sale to City is the current club-record after his £100million move but a deal for Rogers has been dubbed to exceed £80m.
