Arsenal handed 'different' Eberechi Eze transfer message as exit request made

1 week ago 32

Arsenal are gearing up for the 2025/26 season with high expectations of finally clinching the Premier League title after a series of near misses.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has previously conceded that the 24/25 season was a tough one for his squad, given their sky-high aspirations. Despite another runner-up finish in the Premier League, they were considerably adrift of champions Liverpool.

However, there's a tangible wave of optimism washing over the Emirates Stadium this summer, with the conviction that the ongoing transfer window could deliver the necessary reinforcements to end Arsenal's league title drought. One such signing is Swedish frontman Viktor Gyokeres, who completed a big-money move from Sporting.

Other new additions this summer include midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, who the Basque side could not hold onto due to a €60million (£51m) release clause in his contract. Brentford skipper Christian Norgaard has also joined the club, arriving for £15m, along with goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Below is a look at some of the latest Arsenal headlines, along with a view on each one...

Eze stance

Former Chelsea player Craig Burley believes Gunners-linked Eberechi Eze is a 'different' type of player to what the club currently have.

"[Eze’s] different," Burley told ESPN FC. "He’s different to even Saka on the right side, he’s different to Martinelli, he’s different to Trossard.

“He’s a wide player who looks to come in-field quite a lot and get in that little pocket behind the midfield. And he can pick a pass, and he can score a goal.

“So, he’s different. He’s not that pacy wide player. Saka’s a wide player that takes people on. Martinelli’s a wide player that takes people on.

“I would say Eze is a little bit different to that. He’s a different type of player. I think it’s a good thing for Arsenal to have that mix.”

Isaac Seelochan of football.london says: "Eze would be a superb signing for Arsenal and it feels like only a matter of time before a deal is done.

"The Gunners needed more firepower and they got that with the additions of Gyokeres and Madueke. Throwing Eze into the mix and Arsenal will be looking extremely strong going into the new campaign."

Lookman 'request'

Arsenal are set to be among a number of Premier League teams who may live to regret not going in for Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Lookman, 27, has reportedly handed in a transfer request at Atalanta amid links with a host of European clubs.

It has already been widely reported that the Nigerian international has his heart set on joining Inter Milan. The Serie A giants have already rejected a bid in the region of £39m, and Lookman is now waiting to see if they will increase their offer.

Isaac Seelochan of football.london says: "It's a shame that Lookman looks unlikely to test himself at a big Premier League club in the prime of his career. Having said that, he deserves respect for going abroad and potentially securing a summer move to Italian giants Inter Milan, which would be superb for him."
