Arsenal's 100% record so far in the Champions League this season could be about to benefit their Premier League title race once the league phase finishes next year

Arsenal are in line to gain a Premier League title race advantage from how Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are faring in the Champions League this season.

The Gunners are one of only three clubs with a 100% record in the league phase, Bayern Munich and Inter being the others. However, their London rivals are not getting on quite as well.

Spurs are one of five teams still unbeaten in this season's competition, alongside Manchester City and the aforementioned trio. However, they have drawn both of their matches outside of north London so far, 2-2 with Bodo/Glimt and 0-0 against Monaco.

Winning both of their home matches, 1-0 over Villarreal and 4-0 versus Copenhagen, has them up to 10th in the table. A point and two places behind them are Chelsea.

The Blues, like Tottenham, have a 100% home record, having beaten Benfica 1-0 and Ajax 5-1; however, they are winless away from home. Bayern won 3-1 in Munich, while they had to come from behind to draw 2-2 with Qarabag last time out.

Halfway through the league phase, both clubs are in play-off places for the knockout phase, albeit as the seeded side. Staying between ninth and 24th place would mean they face a two-legged tie in February, much like Man City did last season.

That is the same month Arsenal play both teams for the final time this season. They visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the weekend of February 21 before hosting Chelsea the following week.

The first leg of the knockout phase play-offs are in the week commencing February 16, days before Spurs host the Gunners. Those second legs then take place a week later, in the week beginning February 23.

Opta Analyst currently predicts that Chelsea have an almost 69% chance of being in the knockout phase play-offs, with Tottenham at just over 71%. Arsenal, meanwhile, have the lowest percentage, at just under two.

Therefore, the Gunners are unlikely to need a play-off. Their London rivals having to play for their place in the last 16 before their league meeting would be a welcome boost to Arsenal.

The Blues host Barcelona at Stamford Bridge later this month, before travelling to Atalanta in December. They then host Pafos in January before concluding their league phase back in Italy against Napoli.

Spurs visit Paris Saint-Germain next up, before hosting Slavia Prague next month. Borussia Dortmund then visit them in the New Year, before a trip to Eintracht Frankfurt follows for Tottenham.

The Gunners host Bayern before the end of this month and then go to Brugge in their final Champions League match of this year. Inter are first up in January, before they host Kairat.
